Title: Diamond Headache Clinic Post by MR_FLOOR on May 13th, 2007, 11:03am Hi all I'm new here, but not new to CH I'm 42 and I have been getting CH since I was 14 or so. when I was 30 I went to Diamond for the first time back then they had a shot called Decadrone, now mind you I've been cronic since I was 14 or so (I was never episotic )this shot cleared up my cycle for over 2 months . I was about to build a statue of my doctor (URBAN) in my living room. After I left his office he told me that shot would clear up my CHs for at least 1 month.I thought ya right.Well he was right. The bad news is that shot was for somthing else(I think it was for MS)well it was proven that it didn't for whatever it was for so they stopped making it(not a big enough demand). But that wasn't the only thing Diamond did for me,they put me on Calan.Calan was an great preventive for me for about 4 years then they went out of control . And by that time there was no more Decadrone. They tried everything to kill the cycle but could not do it.So the next step was histamine treatment. That worked for almost 8 years in concert with my Calan I was CH free for almost 8 years. Then they came back. So I went for another treatment, that one only worked for 2 years. Now here I am getting 4 to 6 CHs a day cause I ran out of Calan and Imitrex (It was an Insurance thing). But I got that a straightened out and its been 2 big days CH free I'm so happy I think I'm back on the right track.I'm wondering if anyone else went to Diamond LMK. |

Title: Re: Diamond Headache Clinic Post by Brewcrew on May 13th, 2007, 11:15am Calan is a brand name for verapamil. If you request the generic, it'll be much cheaper. And, if you've had long pain-free breaks, you're not chronic. By definition, chronic is going an entire year without at least a 30-day pain-free break. Sorry you're here but glad you found us. Stick around and read, read, read! There's so much to learn! |

Title: Re: Diamond Headache Clinic Post by Bob_Johnson on May 13th, 2007, 11:19am Over the years, folks have taken rather polar positions on the Clinic--reflecting, I'm sure, their personal success/failure. But your experience with med response (good, then failure) is all too common with CH and, I suspect, colors how folks see Diamond. In any case, we need to develop a tolerance (even expectation) that we will have to search to find a new med which is effective for us. Couple of good resources: http://www.headachedrugs.com/pdf/ha2006.pdf Dr. Robbins site. Then explore the entire site by deleting everything following. com/ and then hit enter. ========================================================================= Here is a link to read and print and take to your doctor. It describes preventive, transitional, abortive and surgical treatments for CH. Written by one of the better headache docs in the U.S. (2002) http://www.brightok.net/~mnjday/chtherapy.pdf |
