Title: Re: back again have some questions Post by pieface_49 on Apr 6th, 2007, 12:00pm I have experienced the residual effects of a bad hit over two weeks ago that has mainly subsided. A strange headache persisted for about a week affecting both the front and back of my head. Someone had a medical term for this in another post. I can't remember what it was. Here is the medical term for "nuchal". http://www.medterms.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=18567 From Pubmed: "Nuchal symptoms were found in the majority of 100 consecutive patients with cluster headache. In 10%, pain was experienced in the neck with the initial typical orbitotemporal pain; in 37%, pain radiated from the orbit or temple to the ipsilateral side of the neck. Sometimes, neck pain heralded the onset of the attack by a few minutes. During an attack, neck stiffness was reported in 40% and tenderness in 29%. Movement of the neck, especially flexion, precipitated cluster headache in 9% of patients. This was particularly true of patients with chronic cluster headache. Neck movement aggravated the headache in 16 of 100 patients and an equal number reported amelioration of pain by neck movement, especially extension. The nuchal features did not necessarily accompany every attack and were usually overshadowed by the severity of the typical headache. Nevertheless, symptoms referable to the neck occur more commonly than is generally appreciated." |

Title: Re: back again have some questions Post by Rosybabe on Apr 6th, 2007, 2:18pm right after my cycle was over, I also experienced a sharp pain in the back of my head, more like an electric shock, It was not constant, it hit me several times and then it went away on its own, but the pain was strong enough that I did not want to move my head or neck while having it, I thought that it was another way for the beast to attack but it was not like my regular CH attacks, I don't know what it was, I will ask the neuro next time... |

Title: Re: back again have some questions Post by soren6 on Apr 6th, 2007, 10:54pm Thank you pieface for your response the only thing is the pain is in the front of my neck not the back and i am not currently having any cluster attacks and i never got neck pain during any cluster attacks so this is seperate but i guess there could still be a relation to it i am seeing my neuro on monday so hopefully he'll have some answers but thank you so much for your research :) |

Title: Re: back again have some questions Post by nani on Apr 7th, 2007, 10:09am I think I know what you're describing. I get an awfully sharp pain up the left side (I'm a lefty) of my neck. And it spasms and turns my head during a high level hit. It's seperate from the pain at the back of my neck, where my cluster "bump" is. |
