Title: Thanks and Hello
Post by Brenza on Nov 2nd, 2006, 5:39pm
Hi all. I just wanted to say thanks for the support. I have been suffering for over ten years. Pretty mild case from what I have read. Its been over 2 years since my last attack. I'm 4 days in - last night was brutal. My aches usually last for 7-14 days and then go away for a year or 2. I get it on the left side. Also, my dad has been getting these for as long as I can remember. He's 76 and still fighting! Thanks for all the tips. Good luck to everyone. -Tim

Hi Tim,
I'm glad your cycles are so short but I'm sorry you get them at all. What if any meds do you use? How long is your dad's cycle? It may be short but lets see if we can help you anyhow!

Tim,

Hi!  You mentioned that your Dad has been fighting CHs for years.  Has he had any luck with meds, O2, etc?

Hi Tim, and welcome.  I'm sorry you're here, but this is the best place to be to learn about CH.

Please read everything you can here, go through all of the buttons on the left of your screen.  Have you been diagnosed with CH?  If not, check out the cluster quiz on the left, print out any/all info you find, and take it to your doc.

Someone is always here, 24/7/365, so please log on, ask questions, vent, whatever.  We're here to help you as best we can.

Sandy

Me again. My dad used to get them every year in the spring and they would last about 2 weeks. As he has gotten older they have become less frequent. Every other year, then every 3rd or 4th. I talked to him tonight and he said he hasn't had any in a long time. As for meds neither of us have had much luck. My Dad did asperin water and wait it out. I have had the best luck w/ drinking alot of water and taking warm showers for relief. Tonight I'm armed w/ BC powder, red bull, and nasal spray. I'll let you know if it helps but I feel like I'm trying to stop a tidal wave w/ a sand bag. Not much luck w/ Doctors. -Tim

Brenza,

Have you ever given oxygen a try, as Cyn mentioned? It works for many on this board - for me, it aborts the headaches in less than 5-10 minutes. You could look into getting a perscription from your GP or nero - 15 liters/min and a nonrebreather mask.  I am not sure how to re-post here, but there is a great post in Medications, Treatments, Therapies called "Oxygen tips, information, and links (reposted)." Check it out for all the details! And good luck fighting.

PF Wishes,
Meg
