Hi Folks,

It is my 6th week and the CH is almost leaving me in peace after an attack of bad flu the beast almost dissapeared , only slight weak shaddows . I felt a better after i reached 240mg Verapamil/day or may be i was reaching the end of my cycle .
I wush pain free for all clusterheads , i had a real depressing 6 weeks which affected me more than any other time and i hope after that i flu i resume my normal activity and get back to my normal life

I wrote that 5 days ago and i was really happy , today 7 am i woke up with a bad attack and had to take an injection and then again at 4 pm had another stong one and took another imitrex  inj. , after 6 days pain free only slight shadows the beast is back .. can you tell me folks , is that normal ? is that normally happening at the end of the cycle , i don't remember that happened to me in the previous ones .
I feel bad and scared that it will start again   >:(

I don't think it sounds abnormal.  It isn't necessarily an even progression.

What's most encouraging is that the pattern of your headaches seem to be decreasing in frequency overall.  A breakthrough of attacks is not abnormal when your cycle is winding down, and does not necessarily indicate that they will ramp up again.  Cycles differ, one from another.  For example, mine this spring ended far more abruptly than has been my experience in the past.

Just one episodic's experience.

Best wishes for continued improvement,

George

I agree with George, it's not abnormal to have some pain free time and then get hit again.

I'm an episodic, with typical cycles lasting 8 to 9 weeks, with anywhere from 18 to 24 months of lovely pain free time between.  My last cycle ran for 8 full weeks, and then ended...or so I thought.  I had one month of pain free time, and then started getting hit on the OPPOSITE side of my head for another 4 weeks.  During those last 4 weeks, the hits were much milder, never ramping up past a 4 or 5 on the Kip scale, and much shorter in duration , not on any timetable (curing regular cycles, I know exactly what time of the day I should get hit)-uncomfortable yes, but manageable, yes. It was some sort of breakthrough.

I guess the only thing I can say about this beast is that he is unpredictable, and seems to "morph" into another phase, at least for me.

My best advice to you is to take each pain free moment you have and treasure it, and try not to worry about when the next hit might be coming.  Either it will, or it won't happen.  When the cycle ends, it will end, and you will live on to enjoy pain free days.

Sandy

So far this cycle (2 months in) I've had two decent PF stretches.  5 and 6 days.

Now I think it's starting to ramp up...as I went 19 hours between my HA last night and my first daytime hit this cycle this afternoon.  And now, about 5 1/2 hours after that one I feel a very strong shadow....

A few weeks back I was looking at notes, and the first 15 attacks this cycle had almost identical stats with regard to time between attacks (the best way I've found to measure these things).  Last cycle (winter 2004-2005) followed that "first 15 plays" with a brutal week (by my standards) with an average of 12 hours between hits.  That was when I got my first 5 day reprieve.

As George said, cycle differ from one to another, sometimes wildly.  Kind of like the weather. :)

Or has your sleeping pattern changed?
Doing anything different this time?

Keep us imformed, and some PF wishes your way!

I am still on 240 mg verapamil devided in 3 doses, my sleeping pattern is better i don't have insomnia any more but if i have a shadow i am scared to go to bed till it dissapears .
I am planning to go back to the gym but i am waiting till complete relief from my last flu.
Yesterday i did'nt have any hit but i had an evening moderate shadow for about 5 hours and here i am starting a new day and waiting to see how it goes for the next coming days and weeks .
