Title: Hello All Post by heropayton99 on Oct 15th, 2006, 10:25pm My name is Mark. I have suffered from these headaches for approx. 12 years. I feel somewhat lucky that I only get them once a year for about five week periods. But when i do get them, they are awful and basically relegate me to being a couch potato and sleeping like a horse, sitting up. I have taken some of the hints for help here and they seem to be helping a bit, thanks for the tips. I am legally blind due to having my skull fractured at work. I am married to my best friend, she found this site for me. I am a chubby middle aged normal guy. I look forward to talking to you folks. |

Title: Re: Hello All Post by Charlotte on Oct 15th, 2006, 11:22pm Welcome, Mark, and welcome to your wife & best friend. Did she notice we have a section called Supporter's Corner where she can get some moral support & sympathy. Sometimes it's just good to be where people understand. Charlotte |

Title: Re: Hello All Post by RichardN on Oct 26th, 2006, 11:22am Hi and Welcome Home Mark Another vote for 02 here . . . works for 60-70% of us to abort an attack . . . I can usually kill the beast in minutes if used early-on in the attack. Requires a prescription (copy info off this board and take to your doc . . . many are not aware that 02 IS a viable abortive for many CH'ers). You will need a 15 lpm regulator and a non-rebreather mask (the one with the bag), or Clustermask. Try water therapy (see "water X 3" link left of your screen). I am convinced this has helped me reduce the frequency/intensity of attacks. There is much info/caring/sharing here from folks who truly know your pain . . . you're not alone. Do let us know what you've tried . . . what's worked and what hasn't. One of my favorite mottos on this board is, "Nothing works for everyone . . . but SOMETHING works for everyone" . . .. and here you may very well find the "something" that works for you. Be Safe, PFDANs Richard |
