Title: HELP-Newbie question Post by blarneybeal on Oct 2nd, 2006, 9:44pm The doc's are trying to figure out what is wrong with me?? I had the mother of all headaches this past week off and on for 3 days. I paced......I thought some infection was eating my cheekbone..........I bawled because I couldn't take the unrelenting pain any more. I tried Tylenol, Advil, Hydrocodone, Oxycodone. I know I took too much pain medication, I didn't care I wanted the pain to go away. The most "relief" I got was for an hour at a time. It was all on the right side of my head, but I also had swelling - my right cheek, my top lip and the space between my top lip and my nose??? I read here that some have swelling of the eye on that side and it waters. I really didn't notice that but my vision on that side did seem a little out of whack for those few days. I had never heard of cluster headaches until the ear, nose & throat doc they referred me to said I most definitely didn't have sinus infection like 2 other docs said and is going to send me to a neurologist for an MRI. Let me know if you have had any of these symptoms or can offer any words of help. Thanks for anything you have to offer!! |

Title: Re: HELP-Newbie question Post by marlinsfan on Oct 2nd, 2006, 10:28pm Hi beal, it doesn't sound like CH to me, but I'm no doc. Check out the clusterquiz on the left, it may help you rule CH out. Regarldess, pain sucks. |

Title: Re: HELP-Newbie question Post by unsolved1 on Oct 2nd, 2006, 10:56pm Right below my eye on the affected side sometimes swells up a little bit ... if it's a really bad hit. I have no other swelling. I haven't heard of other CH sufferers describe the swelling that you are describing. Get thyself to a neuro as soon as possible. Hopefully it's not clusters. Title: Re: HELP-Newbie question Post by Sean_C on Oct 2nd, 2006, 11:01pm I don't have those symptoms your describing but as the others have said, I'm no doc either. It sounded like it was a continuous pain the way you were explaining it, is that correct? I hope you can get an explanation soon, let us know how you make out with the MRI. Painfree wishes coming at ya. Sean............................. |

Title: Re: HELP-Newbie question Post by georgej on Oct 2nd, 2006, 11:54pm Doesn't sound like cluster headache, but it sounds as if it hurts like hell. I'm not a doctor, but... Again, see the neurologist--I don't like the swelling thing at all. That's not characteristic of CH. Let us know what you find out. Best wishes, George |
