Title: Introduction and Thanks Post by kbrady on Aug 28th, 2006, 7:22am I am the wife of a CH sufferer and have lurked here for years, reading whatever I can on the subject. I am impressed by the wealth of knowledge and support this board provides. Thank you so much. I write on behalf of DH, he has suffered with Episodic CH for 18 years, he is 35 now. Since we've been together he has tried an assortment of meds, which provided little help and many side effects. I am looking for for some new suggestions, so I will try to list what I can. He has taken; verapamil, prednisone, lithium, depakote, sansert, imitrex, axert, cyprohepatdine (sp?)and oxygen. I'm sure I am missing something. If anyone has a suggestion, please give me a shout and again, thank you for being here. |

Title: Re: Introduction and Thanks Post by Charlotte on Aug 28th, 2006, 9:46am Welcome aboard, KB. While you were lurking, did you check out Supporter's Corner? How far into cycle is DH? Some things seem to work at one point and not at another. Is he having any success with meds or pain management right now? Or are you thinking ahead? Charlotte |

Title: Re: Introduction and Thanks Post by GeorgiaPeach on Aug 28th, 2006, 11:49am Hi and welcome The best advice I can give you for an SO of a sufferer is patience. Listen to his needs. Don't pressure him into talking try and confort him in ways YOU feel might work. If pacing and kicking things are what he needs to do, let him do it. It is difficult for supporters to understand the agony of a CH. My SO is learning to read my needs based on how I act. He used to do what HE felt I needed (blankets, talking through my pain, heat or ice..whatever) but he is learning that I will come to him if I need something. And I know he is ALWAYS there if I need him for even the slightest thing. Another thing is, if one option works, then fantastic. but I have found through my journey that one thing might work for a short time then stop working and the beast returns with a vengence. Again, patience |
