Anybody heard of an O2 concentrator? I have used one the last 2 cycles and I don't have to worry about refilling tanks. It works by filtering out almost all the other gases in the air and leaves about 97% O2. My insurance pays for most of the rental of it. I was hoping to buy one but they are about $2700. I still have O2 tanks to take with me elsewhere but at home I use the concentrator. I've seen them at nursing homes when a patient needs O2. Mine is set at 10 lpm and takes care of 95% of my CH's. I don't know if this would help someone, but it could save running out of O2.

They did not perform well for me. By the time they reach their rated output in concetration it was to late. O2,99% 12 to 15 lpm immediately is the best, for me anyway. If the concetrator fails to abort and I reach a kip 7 or more the thing is in extreme danger anyway. I had two back to back at one time.. didn't work out to well for me. The medical supply really ripped off the insurance company though..1800.00 a month. If it works, great.

I've been thinking about a 10lpm concentrator, but have been waiting to see if others have good results with them. It would deffinately save alot of problems with the tanks.....

Mine works for me 95% of the time...If I wake up with a CH which happens 4-8 times per night, then I go directly to the Concentrator and the CH is gone within 5-15 minutes. If insurance will help you, go for it. My medical supply charges around $450/month to the insurance company. I might have to pay a small copay.

If oxygen works for you I would try the concentrator.

I had the concentrator for a whole cycle (60 days) and it worked about 50% of the time. It never seemed like it was putting enough O2 out, couldn't take a full breath unless I took it in slowly. I did have a couple of the small portable tanks, and I would bypass the regulator and just suck straight off the valve. Open valve, breathe deep, close valve, and so on. That worked about 80-90% of the time for me. I thought that the big O2 tank would work better but my doctor wouldn't prescribe me one so I just gave up on O2 after that cycle.

Your doctor wouldn't prescribe one? >:( I have yet to figure out why some docs resist that.
