Title: Re: Jaw and Gum pain. Anyone else? Post by Guiseppi on Jul 30th, 2006, 5:28pm Someone smarter then me will spell this right for you, but the trimeginal nerve, (or a variant spelling) runs across your face and jaw. It's the reason some CH'ers have pulled their teeth out thinking that would stop the pain. I've chipped my molars rubbing them together so hard when I have an attack so yeah it's fairly common. Read up on the treatments starting with the oxygen. Yes if you beat the headache back the jaw pain subsides too. Good luck and welcome to the board. Guiseppi |

Title: Re: Jaw and Gum pain. Anyone else? Post by prcole18 on Jul 30th, 2006, 5:48pm From what I know jaw pain etc is common in CH, Generally affects me in the whole left side of my head behind my left eye, going down to my jaw. |

Title: Re: Jaw and Gum pain. Anyone else? Post by TxBasslady on Jul 30th, 2006, 8:43pm I have the jaw pain also. It almost reminds me of a toothache...but my right jaw and the teeth on my right side are involved. Read the links to the left of this page. Take the cluster quiz. Lots of info here for treatment options. I use 02 (oxygen) for my CH. It works great, and there's no side effects. You need to find a doc in your area for treatment options that need a Rx. Welcome....there's usually someone here 24/7. Feel free to ask any questions you need answered. We're not docs....but we're happy to help, if we can. Jean |

Title: Re: Jaw and Gum pain. Anyone else? Post by starlight on Jul 30th, 2006, 10:37pm bklynlyn-- Welcome to the boards! I do get the tooth/gum pain on the side of the headache (upper jaw) although I did not used to get it. These things can morph as to how they affect you although the pain behind the eye is a constant. This is your first cycle you say--get yourself prepared by seeing a neurologist but do keep in mind I have read that there are individuals who only suffer from one cluster headache cycle and then never encounter them again. I was unaware of that until recently. so it is reason to be hopeful. Starlight |

Title: Re: Jaw and Gum pain. Anyone else? Post by Skyhawk5 on Jul 31st, 2006, 11:41pm YES I have jaw & gum pain. This is common I've read. Many of us have had un-needed dental work due to this pain. Me too. I had 2 root canals and my Dentist tried to end a strong shadow with nerve blocks. What a game. Good Luck, Skyhawk5, Don S. |

Title: Re: Jaw and Gum pain. Anyone else? Post by Bond007 on Aug 4th, 2006, 10:43pm Mine usually involves the upper jaw in attacks up to about a kip 5 or 6. Anything above that, though, it hits my left side of my face. |

Title: Re: Jaw and Gum pain. Anyone else? Post by skorpio1104 on Aug 5th, 2006, 8:39am I am also having jaw and gum pains; two things; I am constantly find myself biting together my upper and lower, so bad, even when I have no attacks, that I have to remind myself all the time not to do that. The second; for me too it feels like toothache, but to make everyone laugh, I have to be honest to say that I have a bridge on the top left (I'm a leftie), and have none of my own on that side, and it still hurts like hell...I mean my fake ones!!! So don't you have your own teeth pulled!! Judith |
