Barak,

Hi and welcome to the board.  I had clusters when I was in high school (although I am older than that now).  Read all you can here and try to find what works for you.  Most importantly, you don't say if you have a neurologist--ask your regular doctor to see a neurologist so he/she can help you--neurologists are the ones who know about these headaches.  Regular doctors do not always know about these headaches.  It took me MANY years to even end up in a neurologist's office when I should have been there way back in high school.  So please do that if you haven't already.  That is the first step to treating these headaches.
Also, maybe tell us a little about your headaches--when did they start, how often do they occur and when, etc.  That way some of the folks here might be able to help you.  Glad you reached out for support.
Wishing you pain free,
Starlight

Well. They started when i was very very young like 7 pr 8 years old but they were a lot more mild than they are now.i went from doctor to doctor and ended up in one of the biggest hospitalsin illinois and they told me about 20 different kinds of headaches and just lear i finnally got diagnosed with episodic cluster headaches. we cant afford the imitrex everyone talks about and my mom says insuracne wont cover it at all. so ive been saving up money for a year and hope to have a supple to last me a while or see how well it will work for me. but i do use the oxygen i keep a tank by my bedand i have one i take with me most of the time.i have not had not had these headaches for about a year actually and a month ago they came back stronger than ever and since then ive been little sleep. i keep thinking my body will crash and let me sleep but these are literally from hell and i dont believe it is possible to sleep through one at full blust no matter how tired you are. but if you have any tips one maybe weaker medicinces i can take or other ways to get imitrex please let me know i just want a little relief i dont care how much just some. i hope that helps you all out a little bit

Barak,

I am using melatonin--taking 12mg before bedtime.  The recommended dose to start at is 9 mg.  I am using the Natrol brand from CVS.  It is helping me tremendously.  Please tell your doctor about whatever course of treatment you decide to take.
My doctor says that this melatonin treatment will help 50 % of cluster sufferers.  Good luck to you Barak.  I am sure others will be along shortly to help you out.
Many here have also recommended using Red Bull to stop the headache.  Use it as soon as you feel the headache coming on.

PS.  You can buy Red Bull at most large grocery stores.

Good luck to you.

If the 1st red bull doesn't help, try it again the next day.  The 3rd day was when mine started working.

Hi Barak, and welcome.

I'm quite a lot older than you, but I started with CH when I was thirteen.  Still getting them at 52, but the cycles are getting farther and farther apart.

Glad you found this board.  I wish it had existed back when I started.

You've gotten some excellent advice so far.  Keep reading, keep learning, and keep positive.  CH sucks, but you can live with being episodic.  I know it.

Ask any questions you like, and keep us posted about how you're doing.  I'm sure there must be some younger people around as well.

Best wishes for PF times ahead,

George
