Title: Hi, I am new.....and think GLOA worked! Post by wildhaus on Jan 19th, 2006, 4:14pm Hi Everyone! My name is Michael , and I live in the Alps in Switzerland..... . I have been suffering from Cluster headaches since mid last year (2005). At the start of the CH the village Doc. misdiagnosed it and send me to the wrong specialist......who then in turn sent me to "pain therapy" .... after which followed some good times and some not so good a few weeks ago I consulted a Neurologist who suggested it could be CH......now......after a few tests it was diagnosed as CH just a week ago..... well at least I know what I deal with....... What got me over the cycle: alot of water.....Zomig tabs and nasal spray.....acupuncture...... ==> but the best of all: GLOA therapy...first 2-3 times a week then once a week over the course of 5 month....I think this is what got the CH to MOVE OUT!! So I am looking for some more experienced CH sufferers; if any one tried it or if any one nows about it..... if you know about it or tried it please let me know your experience with GLOA........ and if any one would like more information about it........let me know! so from A NEW USER AND NEW TO ALL OF IT I just wish you all well from the snowy mountains of Switzerlandl.....and tks for a great new "HOME". Michael and my loving wife and two boys |

Title: Re: Hi, I am new.....and think GLOA worked! Post by mcf69 on Jan 19th, 2006, 9:56pm Yowzer, my trigeminal nerve hurts enough without it being stuck with tiny needles and injected with stuff, I think I'll leave this to those with a little more guts than me. I am curious tho as to how long the effects of the analgesic lasts? You stated that it was tapered off to once every five weeks after the initial treatment, was that because the effect was becoming more long lasting, or because you were ending your cycle? Also did it numb your entire face like dental anesthetic when injected into the trigeminal nerve? Sounds like it may work well for the "intractable" sufferers, but as an episodic I don't think I could go through with it...... Edited to add: BTW welcome to the board, and thanks for sharing the info, I guess I was flinching too much to remember to say that before :o |

Title: Re: Hi, I am new.....and think GLOA worked! Post by wildhaus on Jan 20th, 2006, 11:45am Hi mcf69, just got in from my Gloa trip...... at the beginning of the treatment I had to get poked 3 times a week - after one week twice then only once a week for 3 months – in between treatments there were a few days of no CH – then it always came back, until 4 weeks ago….i was free of pain for 4 weeks! Lately started to get a very slight shadow so, just for safety, I did Gloa today! Hope it will hold at least 4 weeks or more…(lots more!!).. It does’nt numb your entire face like dental anesthetic - someone has to drive you home – you might feel a bit nauseous and have some anxiety for the next few hours - the whole thing takes tops 5 minutes (an anesthesiologist does it) ….he usually does acupuncture afterwards. I will continue the acup. every week but hold on on the Gloa until I feel a shadow again. Maybe the treatment just coincides with an episodic – my neurologist thinks I’m chronic however……who knows…time will tell as this is my first bout with this horrible deamon. |

Post by mcf69 on Jan 20th, 2006, 11:04pm Very intriguing wildhaus, I'd have to say that you have a stronger constitution than I do though, I have no problem giving needles, but recieving them is another matter. Again, welcome to the board, and thanks for the info. |

He doesn't need to "think" about it at all. Ask him to look up the diagnostic criteria. |
