Title: 5 years suffering Post by teajay5779 on Jan 4th, 2006, 12:22pm Hi my name is teajay, I've had CH since I was 21, now I'm 26 and it seems to be getting worse. I use O2 to treat currently, I have used in the past 3mg of Melatonin before bed with success. Imitrex spreay worked at first, than made me puke, I was also on effexor (sp) for a year and I don't think that did anything. My CH are very inconsistent, I get them different times a year each year for different lengths of time, could be 2 days or 2 months. I have read through this site and I've got some useful information already, thank you all for that and good luck with you clusters. teajay :) |

Title: Re: 5 years suffering Post by Jasmyn on Jan 4th, 2006, 12:36pm Hi TJ Welcome here. As you've already read there is a lot of info here and people that understand what you are going through. CH is not always consistent and that is what makes it so hard to diagnose and to treat. You can try the Imitrex injections, look at the Imitrex tip on the left. Hope to see you here again. |

Title: Re: 5 years suffering Post by burnt-toast on Jan 4th, 2006, 3:44pm teajay There are any number of potential treatments that may help you. It sounds like you may need to do a little work with your doc.(s) to find something that works for you. If you are not currently keeping an accurate headache journal, start one today. You have already indicated that you've read through the site so you are starting to arm yourself with information. Use the journal and information that you collect to collaborate with your doc.(s) to test treatments until you determine what works and what doesn't. If you are need to find side effect/interaction information on meds. your pharmacist is the best place to start but here are some links that will help as well. http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginformation.html http://www.drugs.com/ Welcome aboard, there's a lot of good support here, don't be afraid to use it. And don't forget that google searches can help you better understand CH. You may have to wade through a significant amount of basic information but the availablility of good information is improving. Best wishes on your journey. Tom |

Title: Re: 5 years suffering Post by marlinsfan on Jan 4th, 2006, 4:09pm Hi teajay, welcome to the nuthouse. If you do plan on jumping out of the building, make sure you close the window first ;) One more document for you to read. It has all the treatment options. You should think about preventatives too, not just the O2 and imitrex abortives you're taking. http://www.brightok.net/~mnjday/chtherapy.pdf PF wishes. |
