Title: Hey Brewcrew... Post by sandie99 on Dec 31st, 2007, 10:37am ... a little message from Timo. Your current picture is quite similar with Jyväskylä's very own ice hockey team's logo: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/fi/thumb/d/da/JYPin_logo.svg/130px-JYPin_logo.svg.png The team is called JYP and their nick name is Hurricanes, which the whole idea behind the logo. Here's a link to their official website: http://www.jypliiga.fi/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=22&Itemid=111 The team was founded back in 1977 and they've been playing at National Hockey League (or SM liiga as we call it), our national top league, since 1985. They've never won the national championchips, but they've been second or third several times. In case some sport nut wants to know... the team's name JYP has very old history; back in 1923 JYP stood for several ball games, including baseball, handball, iceball and basketball and ice hockey was included in 1947. The ice hockey team's own history is considered to begun in 1977, when ice hockey became its own separate unit. Then the team was called JYP HT, the two letters meant "hockey team". JYP HT became just JYP back in 1997, when the team decided that its name will be written with capital letters and those two letters were dropped. http://www.eurohockey.net/logos/fi/jyp.gif Sanna |

Title: Re: Hey Brewcrew... Post by brewcrew on Dec 31st, 2007, 10:44am Tell Timo that I appreciate his pointing out the similarity. Mine, however, is a bass clef and has little to do with low pressure systems in the northern hemisphere. ;) It is a cool logo, though. |

Title: Re: Hey Brewcrew... Post by sandie99 on Dec 31st, 2007, 10:56am JYP is doing quite nicely this year; they're currently at 4th place at National Hockey League (our favourite team Jokerit is 5th... :-X). But it's not April yet, so only time will tell who wins it this year (and the main point is that TPS is waaaay behind Jokerit.. ;)). Sanna |
