Title: I need next week off!
Post by Sandy_C on Dec 19th, 2007, 5:39pm
Thank God, I'm taking it.

My boss, who is a Carolina Panthers PSL owner, is fit to be tied because next Saturday's game against Dallas is going to be shown on the "NFL" network TV, instead of on his regular cable channels.

So, we spend a few minutes talking about neighborhood sports bars that might be showing the game, then we get in to his cable versus my satellite.  I told him that we have over 200 channels with satellite, but that I wasn't sure if we got NFL, because that may be included in a premium package.  We don't have any premium packages.

So, bossman picks up the phone and calls Direct TV, says he wants to watch the Panthers game this Saturday, and can they install right away.  Well.....Duh!  Of course they can.  They quote him a monthly rate of $29.99.  He says OK, they ask for his credit card number, he gives it to them, and "someone" will call him back within 5 minutes to confirm.  I ask, did they quote you a package that includes NFL, and what are your installation charges?  He replies, they will call me back in a few minutes.

First of all, there has been no return phone call.

Second of all, I know, as a Direct TV customer, that the $29.99 per month package gets you nothing but your local channels and a few others, none of which include NFL network.

After bossman hangs up, I ask him what did he just buy?  He says "I didn't buy anything".  So I politely ask, then why did you give out your credit card info?  He says, "because they asked for it".

He thinks he has bought nothing.  I think he has bought something, but he doesn't know it.

Does anyone else besides me see a problem here?

Sandy

He'll be surprised.

Direct tv does offer a sports package for 10 bucks a month extra.....but not positive what all it covers at the moment. Then there is the special game packages that run I think sumthing like 70 bucks EXTRA....mite even be two payments of that amount for a year to get it.....seems to me that would be the one to show EVERYTHING like he wants and show that game. You can upgrade online or change things. Not sure you have to install anything for the big ticket sports pack....rather then upgrade to it and they activate the channels for you. (as long as you already have direct tv) Not totally positive how it all works but that's what I heard !! Direct expense Pam
