Title: What's Your Favorite X-Mas Movie?
Post by barry_sword on Dec 8th, 2007, 2:56pm
Our's are these two. The first one is "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation", special edition 5.1 Dolby Digital and widescreen!
The second one is "Bad Santa, Director's Cut".

Both these we watch each year now, in fact we are going to watch Bad Santa tonight. :o Billy Bob Thornton plays the part so well and a little different role for John Ritter, god rest his soul.

Hands down it's got to be:

Jimmy Stewart in, "It's a wonderful life"

second:  would be Alister Simms in,  "A Christmas Carol"

It's a Wonderful Life, absolutely my most favorite.
I just love it when the good guy wins, ya know?

Christmas Vacation was good, and Bad Santa was pretty dang funny.

"Scrooge" with Alistiar Sim.  Nothing is close for me.

"A Charlie Brown Christmas" Love this thing.

"It's A Wonderful Life" and of course "A Christmas Story" are fun. They run them 700 times during the holiday. I almost can recite the dialogue.

But you didn't comment on The Bishop's Wife, which was remade in 1996 into The Preacher's Wife (a bad movie starring Denzel Washington and Whitney "Crackhead" Houston).

Second "The Bishop's Wife" - an absolute gem of a movie.  And "Holiday Inn" - of COURSE!

I really like Alistir Sim (sp) in A Christmas Carol, and there is a version of it on Lifetime Television starring Susan Lucci in a  more updated version, and I can't remember the name of it.

Christmas Vacation is pretty good too.  [smiley=laugh.gif]

A Christmas Story is good, but I can only watch it once or twice, and the network plays it so much... Although there is a house across the river that has that leg lamp, made into a huge version, so you can see it from the interstate, in the front yard. ha ha

Ah a "Holiday Inn" Fan." Good one. Better than "White Christmas." If you weren't around in the 50s, you won't know the hype surrounding "White Christmas."

Every year my wife and are up late several nights wrapping gifts.  Each time we do we have "It's a wonderful life" on the TV in the background.  Not the colorized one from that bastard Ted Turner either.  It's an awesome movie and I never get tired of it.  We often recite the lines in various situations througout the year.

How many here know that the cop and cabbie, Bert and Ernie, inspired Jim Henson to create the Muppet characters of the same names?

2nd place is "A Christmas Story" with Peter Billingsly.  There are so many classic moments in that movie: the tongue on the flag pole, the bully getting beat up, the duck loosing its head to the sound of Chinese Christmas Carols, the Bumpas' dogs getting the turkey, ...  The list goes on.

Anytime one of my little ones asks for something stupid for Christmas I just say; "You'll shoot your eye out".  And they know there's no way in hell it's gonna happen  ;;D

I like to rent "The Adventures of Robin Hood" with Errol Flynn.

Strangely enough, Prince John is kind of like a grinch ruling while Robin Hood harasses him and gives to the poor until King Richard is restored again, who is like the Santa that was kidnapped.    ;)

I LOVE White Christmas! I have VHS and DVD and I watch it every year at least once.

I have seen Wonderful Life, Santa Claus and Brady Bunch Christmas movie and few others, but White Christmas is the best. And Love Actually is another nice one to set the Christmas mood.

When I was a kid each Christmas the latest Disney flick came to the movie theaters, so I've seen The Lady & the Tramp, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, The Lion King, Pocahontas, The Hunchback of Notre Dame and Hercules all during Christmas time. And Dumbo, Robin Hood & especially Mary Poppins are shown on TV each Christmas. One point I had seen Robin Hood so many times that I could, as a kid, write its script, word by word, correctly from memory! ;;D

So, White Christmas & Love Actually it is for me. :)

My Favorites are

The Sound of Music
The Wizard of Oz

When we were kids we would watch the Wizard of Oz before we went to Midnight Mass.

Last night we watched Bad Santa (Cannot find Badder Santa)
and Christmas Vacation. LOL

Tonight is Jim Carey in The Grinch Who Stole Christmas.

I save the Sound of Music for Christmas Eve after Barry falls asleep. ;;D

With Patrick Stewart.

My kids love watching the first Gremlins.

You can always do what I used to do when I was on College and watch "Star Wars" the original Trilogy.
