Title: Re: Sanna and reindeer Post by Sandy_C on Dec 7th, 2007, 1:40pm OK, I see someone who should be on Santa's list of good little girls. I see one of Santa's reindeer. Where's Santa???? ;;D Oh, nevermind, Santa is the one taking the picture, right? Nice picture, and I agree, that looks like a store I would like to visit. Sandy |

Title: Re: Sanna and reindeer Post by sandie99 on Dec 7th, 2007, 1:45pm Thanks, Scott. ;;D That place, Viherlandia, is the biggest Garden Center in Finland. http://www.viherlandia.fi/ Sandy, Santa must be busy somewhere else. But when Christmas season was officially opened here, Santa did visit the kids of this city and they adored him. ;) |

Title: Re: Sanna and reindeer Post by brewcrew on Dec 7th, 2007, 3:31pm Check out the cuffs on those jeans. That's a sign of affluence, you know. Shows you can afford more than you really need. ;) My father-in-law, due to his posture, was always looking down at people's feet when he was at the VA hospital. We'd wheel him into a crowded area and you could hear him pointing at feet and saying, "Doctor. Doctor. Not a doctor. Doctor...." It was the cuffs on the pants. |

Title: Re: Sanna and reindeer Post by cynjeep89 on Dec 7th, 2007, 7:50pm Love the pic, Sanna. You are indeed a beauty! The items in the store remind me of the store I worked in when I was in high school. The store was Eskil's Clog Shop and it was not only full of clogs but around Christmas time, Eskil would have tons of Christmas items from Sweden and, of couse, lots of glogg at our Christmas party...yummo. |

No, we didn't. But then again, Christmas is coming, so who knows what will happen then... ;) Barry, Timo & his friend Ville know a man who actually has reindeers and lives at the same city in Middle Finland where the two of them are from. ;) And no, he's not Santa... ;;D Melissa, they are indeed gingerbread houses. Those particular houses were made in such a way that you can put a tea light inside of them, so they will look very pretty during the dark nights of the season. :) Jyväskylä is a great city to visit for anyone who loves shops and stores like that; we have lots of them, all packed with unique design things, which you cannot get anywhere else. :) I actually bought just evening papers (they have all the pics from Presiden't Ball). Timo bought a Christmas present for my mother and Ville bought glasses for his new appertment. :) Timo and I went to visit Viherlandia's biggest attraction, two parrots! They're named Kalle and Torsti and they can talk. :) Kalle said "hello" to us, which was nice. We didn't take any pictures of them, though. Quote:
Actually, the particular jeans have those cuffs as a fashion thing; they're tightly stiched closed, so if I would like to get rid of them, I'd ruin perfectly well pair of my fave jeans. I'm short, so usually my jeans have cuffs only when I buy them, then a friend of mine will cut them out. It was a great visit. :) |

Title: Re: Sanna and reindeer Post by barry_sword on Dec 8th, 2007, 8:42am Did someone mention Reindeer? I live about 5 miles from Santa's summer home called "Santa's Village". It is known world wide and is one of our main tourist attractions. Here is the link if you want to check it out. http://www.santasvillage.ca/index.php |

Title: Re: Sanna and reindeer Post by Melissa on Dec 8th, 2007, 10:03am This is what's going on today in Rudolph, Wisconsin... http://www.visitrudolphwi.com/cou_xmas.html My kids went to it last year and had a great time with their Great Aunt, but it's -3 degrees right now so she's not taking them this time. Hopefully next year will be better weather wise! They got to sit on Santa's lap, pet the reindeer, make candles for mom for a gift, color, etc. Pretty neat. :) Barry, that place looks very commercial, but I bet the kids have a blast! |

I know, Sanna. All tailored cuffs are a fashion thing. It was simply meant to point out the background behind the pantcuff - and as a bit of a compliment. See? You were able to buy a little more fabric than was absolutely necessary. You must be doing okay. That's all. |

Title: Re: Sanna and reindeer Post by barry_sword on Dec 8th, 2007, 10:17am Mel, it is getting more and more of a money grab. When I went there as a kid it sure was a lot different than it is today. When Rudolf's Funland opened the place changed and became quite commercial. What do go-karts have to do with Christmas? When Angie and I fished back a few years ago we fished along the river bank across from Santa's Village. It was funny because all day long in the summer all we could hear was Christmas music. We would get home and both of us could not get the music out of our heads. [smiley=laugh.gif] |

Title: Re: Sanna and reindeer Post by sandie99 on Dec 8th, 2007, 1:08pm Barry, you love your reindeers don't ya? ;;D Come to visit us and we'll go to Lapland where you can meet a lot of them. ;;D And we have TWO Santa places; after all, Santa IS from Finland. ;) http://www.santaclaus.fi/?deptid=8044 http://www.santapark.com/santa_park.php?la=en&s=1024 Sanna ;) |
