Title: Anyone know what this cable is called? Post by Melissa on Nov 30th, 2007, 12:34pm Hi. I need to know if anyone knows the name of the cable that hooks up your laptop to a TV so I can play movies off my puter and watch them on the TV? Here's a pic of the connection, and I know I've seen those kind before, but I am lost as to what it's called? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v708/mfiltz/DSC05734.jpg Any help would be great! Thanks! |

I'll be taking my laptop up north in Jan. and wanted to play DVD's off it instead of hauling up the DVD player. Not only that, I'm getting tired of burning DVD's as I only have a write speed of 2x. Thanks for your help!!! :-* |

I found this one on Amazon and it looks like it'd be a good thing to have. http://www.amazon.com/Saitek-Spkr-Personal-Stereo-Speaker/dp/B000M00M2E/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1196445254&sr=8-1 Thanks again Gator! |

Post by sailpappy on Nov 30th, 2007, 12:56pm ;;D ;;D Hello Mel, You might also want to know that on most laptop's you have to push the function key and the F-2 or F-3 key to facilitate the export of the signal to the television. It's not as easy as just hooking up the super video cable. Also going to a HD television might not work as well since they have a different resolution scheme. I use mine to view photos I want to blow up into big enlargements prior to spending the money at the photo shop. Enjoy and Merry Christmas. Pappy |

That is a S-Video connector. The cable you want will have 3 RCA plugs on the other end, a yellow for video and one red (R audio) and one white or black (L audio). Some times this requires a special inline converter cable so check the laptop manufactures web site support first before just buying the said cable. I hope this helps, Rolo... |
