We attended Carol's early Birthday/Retirement surprise party put on by her family. It was a blast. She was a little surprised when I walked up behind her and touched her on the shoulder and said "hi Carol". I don't think she ever expected to see Angie and I there. She has such a nice family, made us feel like we were a part of them.

Y'know, you raise your kids to always tell the truth and then find out that for 6 months or more they've just told one bald faced lie after another!!  My kids are awesome - I can't believe what they did for me.

I truly believed I was going to my granddaughter's dance recital.  I even had the ticket (that the little buggers printed up) to get me into the show!  Shock doesn't quite describe the feeling and then just huge pride in my kids and knowing how much work went into that one day.

Old friends I hadn't seen in years - families on all sides - and new friends like Barry and Angie who were just one more wonderful surprise added to the day.

For my friends here - thank you all so much for taking time out of your busy days to send cards, gifts, flowers and special people to deliver them all.

Thanks too for the special greetings that y'all have been sending today.

What a secretive bunch and how very glad I am that you are all a part of my life.

I should have clarified the situation - I don't actually turn 65 until January and officially not retiring until February 29/08.  I thought it would be kind of different to go in a leap year.

My kids know me very well - if I'd been invited to go to anything in December or January, I likely would have figured they were up to something.

This way they completely blind-sided me and today they're all congratulating their happy little selves about their brilliance.  Shhhhh - don't tell them, but I think they're pretty brilliant myself!  ;)

On behalf of myself, my sister Sharon and my brother Terry I would like to say thank you to everyone who knew about this and didn't let it slip!!!!  Thank you sooo much!! The look on her face, oh my God!  I don't think I have EVER seen my mother speechless, so that was a nice bonus lol  We were a little worried she would stroke :o out on us, but I guess we yelled SURPRISE softly enough lol   I can't think of another person more worthy of a party in their honour than my mom.  
As for the lying...oh man the lying...it was hard, and we were all on the look out for the lightning bolts hahaha  I'm so glad now that I can go back to talking to her everyday and stop avoiding her, and all her questions, in the fear of lettin' the cat outta the bag.  She was truly surprised.  Barry, Angie...thank you so much for being there to represent the ClusterFamily....and thank you to everyone who sent cards and gifts too.  This is a good bunch of people here and I'm glad my mom has found all of you!!!
