Your tagline is fantastic!!!!

Any fool can make something complicated; it takes a genius to make it simple.

You DO know that's from Woody Guthrie,  Eric?

(Brew's philosophy major doesn't make him quite that eloquent . . .)

Eric,

Flattery will get you nowhere.

What do you want?

(See? Straight-forward. To the point. Simple. Genius.)

I 'll have a go at being the greatest philospher too  :)

How about KISS ? Keep It Simple Stupid !  ;;D

See? Isnt that even simpler than what Woody said ?

Lets see if I get any compliment for that  8)

Sorry, Annette. It's short and simple, but it lacks down-home country charm, like Woody. How it equates being foolish with being complicated and being genius with being simple.

That's just plain poetic.

Now stop trying to steal my thunder! ;;D

A couple similar lines are credited to Einstein, too.

Any intelligent fool can make things bigger and more complex... It takes a touch of genius --- and a lot of courage to move in the opposite direction..

Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler.

That expression has been around since AT LEAST...the 70's  .   It is a business acronym that is used a lot especially in seminars, meetings, etc.

There's nothing new under the sun, but Brewcrews ad-lib words of wisdom here and on almost every post of his..are words I always listen to.  He is a very smart guy.

It can scarcely be denied that the supreme goal of all theory is to make the irreducible basic elements as simple and as few as possible without having to surrender the adequate representation of a single datum of experience.

"On the Method of Theoretical Physics" The Herbert Spencer Lecture, delivered at Oxford (10 June 1933); also published in Philosophy of Science, Vol. 1, No. 2 (April 1934), pp. 163-169. [thanks to Dr. Techie @ www.wordorigins.org and JSTOR]

Variants: Everything should be made as simple as possible, but no simpler.

Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler.

This is very similar to "Occam's Razor", with the addition that it warns about too much simplicity. It is also similar to what has become known as the "KISS principle": Keep It Simple, Stupid -- but never oversimplify.

Look, just semantics. Things can't be made simpler than possible.

It isn't possible.

As simple as we are able to make them possible, but not simpler than they actually are.  He's talking about theory.

Yes I know it was Woody Guthrie, however more people are familiar with Brewcrew as he has coined many a phrase that has set the stage of enlightenment for the next generation.
In fact I know of a cult in Eastern Montana that is solely dedicated to his teachings.

My all time favorite is this:

"Life is but a dream....................................Shaboom!"
