Title: Tragic story
Post by tommyD on Nov 22nd, 2007, 7:57am
A police detective name of Jeffery Hughes in Madison WI had bad CH and in Jan. '06 had the DBS implant, and it allowed him to stay on the force.

Tuesday he crashed his car and is in critical condition. He has a wife and four kids. The cause of the crash is unknown.

Here's the main story:
http://www.madison.com/wsj/home/local/index.php?ntid=258197

and a feature story done this June about the implant:

Tragic.  High-speed rollover, no seat belt.   Hoping the very best, no knowing what happened but he's fellow clusterhead.  :(

If anyone would like to start without me, be my guest.   :)

Clue so far from story is:

Quote:
Hughes, who joined the Madison force in 2001, is being treated at UW Hospital...

Writer of both stories has e-mail and phone number in story.  Probably not today, but she may have info on hospital.

Not being familiar with the area, I think this may be the hospital (UW Hospital ?)

That could be the building.  An attention: line and his name could do it, but not positive.

This is so sad.  :'(

Does anyone know if he was ever a member of this board?

Prayers out to Detective Hughes and his family.

Found the Milton Police Chief's e-mail addy.  Maybe we could send e-mail to him and ask if he could forward the messages to Jeff Hughes' family?

Chief Thomas Gilland

Any thoughts on this idea?

Good find, Sean.

This is from the guest book:

Hello,I'm Jeff,a CH sufferer since 1991. In the midst of the pain, I'm only concerned about the short term control, but when the euphoria of remission strikes, I ponder the long term affects of a majority of the prophalactic measures. my grandfather suffered for 30 years and now suffers from coronary insufficiency. he associates it with long-term caforgot usage. when I Talk to the Doc about these concerns, I get the typical "deer in the headlights" look. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Great sight!

I searched the Wisconsin State Journal website, and the original story is the only one archived.

Would love to hear how he's doing if anyone knows.
