Title: What are you thankful for: Post by Linda_Howell on Nov 21st, 2007, 12:08am I'll start: Two families to care about. One of them biological. One through a shared pain. enough food that I am not hungry on any day of the year. enough money that I can sometimes help others. enough intelligence. enough health enough... |

Title: Re: What are you thankful for: Post by Lizzie2 on Nov 21st, 2007, 12:55am I am thankful for: My family here. My biological family, especially my parents who are always there for me, no matter what. My boyfriend who is very patient and always makes me smile, even when he is making fun of me! My cat and my dog. Having a job that I love and the fact that I will always have a job as a nurse. I am thankful for the good days, or even the good minutes, when the pain is less and I feel okay - even though my bf says that I jinx myself (I do not believe this!), I still like to be appreciative for the good times....they make the bad times a little less bad. Happy Thanksgiving! Carrie :) |

Title: Re: What are you thankful for: Post by SoldiersWife on Nov 21st, 2007, 10:14am Honestly, this sounds corny...but a more accurate question for me, is what am I NOT thankful for.... My soft blankets...my slippers...finally getting a car... My husband, my daughter, my parents, my friends...food..for the gift of being able to celebrate Thanksgiving with my my family....there's so much I lost...and this year, has been the year I've been richly blessed after many years of "learning"... |

Title: Re: What are you thankful for: Post by Melissa on Nov 21st, 2007, 11:12am Linda, that's a very loaded question... ;) I'm thankful for: Sticking around, for my adopted families, for Mike posting Justin Wilson's Sweet Potato Pie recipe a few years back ;;D, for a beautiful home & cozy fireplace, for my husband who amazingly hasn't left me in over 13 yrs, for my daughter Lily & son Eli, for this little one who'll be gracing me with her life in March, for my husband's family who've accepted me as their own, for the little handprints all over the mirrors & windows, for glue smeared all over my coffee table because Eli made a snowman out of popsicle sticks, for the fact Jesse & mine life has turned out so beautiful, for electricity, gas, heat, a stove, fridge, washer & dryer, for my husband's job that he still has even though it's hardened him through the years, for the peace and quiet of a winter's morning having coffee and watching the snowbirds eat, for kleenex, for having common sense, for the soldiers risking their lives to protect mine, I could go on, and on, and on.... |

Title: Re: What are you thankful for: Post by cash5542 on Nov 22nd, 2007, 8:06pm About now, I'm thankful for Tums so I can eat some pie soon!! Seriously though, I have thought about this all day. I reread an email I sent to Linda last Dec. Lisa had just been admitted for the second time in less than a month for CH. We were all so depressed, frustrated and desperate for answers. Last year she was discharged the day before Thanksgiving after her first week trying to analyze what was going on in her head. Lisa and I spent Thanksgiving day at her apartment, too afraid to go too far from her doctor. I am so thankful what a difference a year makes. I am thankful for those of you here who held our hands, listened to my whining, answered my questions over and over, guided us with love and patience and for the ability now to help other new people that come here. I am thankful for your friendship. I am also thankful that the pain of death does not hurt as bad as the first fresh days and time does heal. I am thankful for the birth of my puppy, Maddie who helped me overcome and ease the losss of my Emily. I am thankful Lisa graduated on time despite the year from hell!!Yay Lisa!!! And for my husbnad who has been by our side regardless of what was facing us. Charlotte |

Title: Re: What are you thankful for: Post by SoldiersWife on Nov 23rd, 2007, 10:14am Thankyou Melissa for mentioning your thankfulness for the "soldiers" that are fighting....and to protect each and every one of us...at the sacrifice of their lives, being with their families....Thank you. I thank you Jonny...for your kindness and respect re my husband, when on a thread that came forward, that I didn't mean to...instead of attacking me with a sarcastic remark, as some others did...you noticed what I said about my husband. THAT is what you took away from it. which reveals your character...loud and clear...you didn't jump on an opportunity to flame me...thankyou for realizing the sacrifice, the pain, the worry...what it must be like to be alone with your spouse in combat... Thanks. |

Title: Re: What are you thankful for: Post by Groov on Nov 24th, 2007, 12:33am Above all, my son who lives with me who I more or less raised alone into a fine young man. But there are so many things to be thankful for, I could not possibly list them all. |
