It is a sad situation indeed.

Our friend re-enlisted in the Marines and did 3 tours in Iraq.

We kept in touch thru e-mail and each time he sent pics of himself, I could see the life in his eyes fading with each picture.

When he finally returned home, there were many, many problems but luckily his wife and family were able to convince him to seek help.

Cyn, it's great that he got the help he needed. I read recently about one Finnish soldier, who worked for UN in different places. He got many, many problems and took his time before he got help. At first, he didn't even get it and now his career as soldier is ruined and the guy is in pieces. :(

one of my best friends was a vietnam and panama vet.   he was awarded many medals.

he got out (by mutual agreement with the corp " they were finished with him and threw him away ) and got married and struggled for years to be "normal"  all the while having to explain missing fingers and an eye to kids and selfish adults. his wife left him and he longed for female compassion to the point that he was becoming almost a threat in his eagerness. he came to live with my family for 3 years and i watched him struggle to be me,  started wearing a suit (like thats a benifit) and going EVERYWHERE i went to the point i had to ask him to back off several times.  finally after a woman filed  restraining order against him because he was continualy going to her work to ask her out and was virtualy stalking her.  i asked him to move out and he moved in with his parents. 2 weeks later he was dead from a self inflicted.

RIP   SGT  Michael Taylor

point

these guys are gonna need ALOT of help from YOU and ME, they wont be able to function normaly insociety and will require great patience.  so be ready to step up.

they are worth it.

should have included,  i gave it more effort than most but it still could have been more.
