Title: The OZ campaign Post by artonio7 on Nov 8th, 2007, 9:50pm Here is a link to the "Ask Doctor Oz anything section on Oprah.com" Ask Dr. Oz anything (https://www.oprah.com/plugger/templates/BeOnTheShow.jhtml?action=respond&plugId=242800001) Ok let's start asking Doctor Oz some serious questions about Headaches and in particular Cluster headaches. Doctor Oz is regularly featured on Oprah... and I'm thinking... perhaps someday soon... if we ask real nice (and often) he just might think that headaches would be a great topic for an episode. They are in the business of ratings... and many many many viewers have one sort of headache or another. Let's see if we can get him to do a show on Headaches and maybe CH will be included. Please, if you Ask doctor Oz... let us know here by simply stating that you did. with warm regards, Tony |

Title: Re: The OZ campaign Post by artonio7 on Nov 8th, 2007, 10:10pm Here is what I asked Doctor Oz... it has to be no longer than 200 characters long. I suffer from a rare disease Cluster Headaches. It is known as one of the most painful conditions known to man. It is often undiagnosed of misdiagnosed. Many times people with ch are referred to either a dentist for unnecessary treatment or to an eye ear nose and throat specialist for more unnecessary treatment or surgery. Go to youtube and search cluster headache. The most tragic aspect of this is that it also effects children in some cases as young as 3 years old. When will you have an episode devoted to headaches? with warm regards, Tony |

Title: Re: The OZ campaign Post by Grandma_Sweet_Boy on Nov 8th, 2007, 10:11pm Hey Tony - great idea. Maybe you could send him a copy of your video so he'd get some idea of what we're talking about. Ya just never know what might get his attention. I like that you're always thinking of ways to get attention for us. Thanks Carol |

Title: Re: The OZ campaign Post by BarbaraD on Nov 9th, 2007, 7:14am But... if we bombard this Dr. Oz with letters we HAVE A CHANCE of getting a show on Clusters... What the hell do we have to lose except a few minutes to write a note? I've written one - what about the rest of you? It's WORTH a try!!!! Hugs BD |

Title: Re: The OZ campaign Post by LeLimey on Nov 9th, 2007, 7:27am I've written in - as the others say - what have we got to lose?! Hells bloody bells - I wasted YEARS being married and this only took seconds ... which sort of takes me back to the subject of marriage come to think of it... ;;D |

Title: Re: The OZ campaign Post by zwibbs/Scott on Nov 9th, 2007, 7:32am I agree with Jonny----She probably would have one of her staff research the "CH" and would determine that only a small percentage of people suffer from it. She wants the shock element. So tell her that you had an attack while walking in New Orleans, knee deep in flooding waters, while the police beat you over the head with their clubs, all the while you were writing a book with fabricated elements, rooting for the Yankees, worrying about the MRSA staf infection. ----Maybe, and it is a big maybe she'll give it some attention. |
||
Title: Re: The OZ campaign Post by LeLimey on Nov 9th, 2007, 7:51am Okay Scott - you email her and point out the percentage is the same as people suffering with MS. Everyone's heard of THAT condition as it's "visible". Our's is an invisible condition but I'm damned if we should suffer invisibly too. Shout. SHOUT OUT LOUD! Lets be heard, for once in my life I can say I'm proud to be loud! ;;D |
||
Title: Re: The OZ campaign Post by zwibbs/Scott on Nov 9th, 2007, 8:02am I WILL email her.....and I'll tell her off....I think. |

Title: Re: The OZ campaign Post by Gator on Nov 9th, 2007, 9:33am You can't not try just because you might fail. The world would be in a sad state if people only acted on a sure bet. Do it. The worst that will happen is nothing. We got a lot of that from them right now. |

Title: Re: The OZ campaign Post by kayarr on Nov 9th, 2007, 10:02am Done, who knows? |

Title: Re: The OZ campaign Post by sandie99 on Nov 9th, 2007, 10:14am Let's keep on trying, whatever it takes! Who knows, we might get a jackpot. I admit that I haven't seen enough of Oprah to be sure what she is looking for, but I have seen ordinary people sharing their stories in the show, it is possible to provide angle which gets the show's interest. We have DJ, we have ch couples, we have dreadful pain, we have world-wide ch family! ;;D I'll start working on mine now, Sanna |

Title: Re: The OZ campaign Post by phil_h on Nov 9th, 2007, 4:27pm I sent in my letter. Couldn't figure out how to post it here ........ nothing new here . ;;D phil h |

Title: Re: The OZ campaign Post by phil_h on Nov 9th, 2007, 4:55pm I sent a letter last month requesting a show on near death experiences . The NDE website did a write in blitz. Apparently they are interviewing 6 people on the Nov. 20th show . I checked the website and I believe they sent in a few dozen letters . So it is possible to get thier attention . Write them .... phil h ;;D |

Title: Re: The OZ campaign Post by Annette on Nov 9th, 2007, 8:51pm May I suggest we write to her telling her about our CH heroes 1- DeeJ How he started this website and literally saved thousands of people, not just the CHers but their loved ones as well. How dedicated he is, serving in the Army and still running the whole website singlehanded, new baby and all. 2- Guiseppi How he went fighting the South Cali fire with this condition, exposing himself to extreme heat even when its a major trigger. The recent fire is still hot news and singing for our heroes who helped put out that fire is news worthy. Thirdly, if she wants shock effect, tell her its the only type of headache which can drive people to suicide and that its the worst pain known to man. I am writing in as well but I dont know if they would take a letter from Australia too seriously. |

Title: Re: The OZ campaign Post by BarbaraD on Nov 10th, 2007, 5:15am Go for it Annette -- and be sure to put DR. in your name. That might pull some weight. Let 'em know it's not just a US problem... Heck I buy a lottery ticket every week -- what are my odds? But I keep buying the darn things...... And someday....... maybe..... Hugs BD |
||
Title: Re: The OZ campaign Post by Annette on Nov 10th, 2007, 5:54am Thanks Barb for your encouragement :) I have sent in my request and question and some suggestions too. Now its time to wait with fingers crossed. I am crossing my fingers and toes for your lottery ticket too Barbara :) |

Title: Re: The OZ campaign Post by Ray on Nov 10th, 2007, 6:41am No sleep for the weary, here... I've written the show, because Tony asked me to. By the way, he asked YOU to also. You can do something similar by writing to Dr. Sanjay Gupta, the CNN doctor via: http://www.cnn.com/am I did that too, yesterday. Ray |
||
Title: Re: The OZ campaign Post by Katherinecm on Nov 10th, 2007, 3:01pm this is a great idea. Dr Oz and Sanjay Gupta both written. |

Title: Re: The OZ campaign Post by schaan on Nov 10th, 2007, 11:42pm i think oprah is a self serving idiot ( or maybe its the folks who treat her like some kind of god ) but ill do it to raise awareness. on my way now. |

Title: Re: The OZ campaign Post by BarbaraD on Nov 11th, 2007, 8:39am Ok, CNN has been notified also. The more we YELL, the more chance SOMEONE might just hear us one of these days. And I agree about Oprah, but people listen to her - for some reason or another. We got about 45 seconds on Larry King a few years back - that was something..... one step for Chers..... Hugs BD |
