Title: Since my kids have WAY too much Halloween candy... Post by Melissa on Nov 3rd, 2007, 5:08pm I was wondering what to do with it all. Barb's post gave me an idea. I'm going to make a care package sending the candy and other requested things to Iraq. I found where I could do that at http://www.anysoldier.com . Lily has already gone through her bowl and when Eli gets home we'll go through his too and he can keep some of what he wants and the rest will go into the box along with other items I'll buy. One family having that much candy is not a good thing! LOL! :) |

Title: Re: Since my kids have WAY too much Halloween cand Post by Melissa on Nov 4th, 2007, 9:11am I read you're not supposed to send chocolate any time between May and October due to it melting, so I think November is safe. And Brew, where did you hear about the chocolate?? I haven't read anywhere that it gets confiscated. In fact, at opgratitude.com they actually NEED the Halloween candy right now (including chocolate) for their care packages. |

Title: Re: Since my kids have WAY too much Halloween cand Post by Brewcrew on Nov 4th, 2007, 9:19am Perhaps I misspoke. I don't know that they actually throw it away - only that they won't ship it to our men and women in uniform due to the mess it makes in the excessive heat. I don't know what they do with it after they separate it. I hadn't heard about the May - Oct timeframe. |

Title: Re: Since my kids have WAY too much Halloween cand Post by Charlie on Nov 4th, 2007, 3:15pm The way things work now, it would take a month or more to get the stuff like this overseas. Paranoia has taken hold everywhere.....especially against our own people. Charlie |
