Dirty Dancing with my daughter  :)

God I love that film and it really made me think. When that first came out it was my first proper crush - Patrick Swayze who is, lets face it, serious PROPER crumpet isn't he ladies?!!

It was more than that though, it was the whole film. We all wanted to be Baby Housemann didn't we girls? Watching it again, twenty years later all those emotions were there again, the wanting to change the world, wanting to be able to dance like that - wanting someone to look at ME like that but now I want all that for my daughter too.

This time around I identified with the mother in it too - her pride in seeing her daughter up there on the stage, her little "I think she gets it from me!" line.. her showing she still had it dancing herself at the end!

I wanted all that for me and now I want it even more for Brid. I can't wait to witness even more of her triumphs  and so I suppose it turns full circle.

Time marches on and its leaving bloody great bootmarks all over my face  ::)

I'll tell you what though - I still fancy the arse off Patrick Swayze  ;)

Oh Helen - I agree with you - one of the best movies I've ever seen and now about to come to the stage.

It's in rehearsal in Toronto right now and due to open in December I believe.

One of my son's friends landed the lead male role.

Guess what I'm hoping to find in my Christmas stocking this year !!!

Around here we quote movies to make a point in a conversation or to bring humor to certain situations.  

 "Nobody puts Baby in a corner"

Frequently makes the list.  The movie is a classic.  One of the few chick flicks I actually enjoyed.

As for you Zwibby - you missed the point numpty. It was the whole film not just Patrick Swayze that did it.. he's never been appealing in any other film. I suppose what I should have said was it was his character I could have turned into a wanton trollop over not HIM!  ::)

Just goes to show there ARE prefect men - even if only invented by female scriptwriters  ;)

Sheesh Steve even "I" understand what she's saying.  I still like the rock wall sceen from Roadhouse.  Though I'd opt for regular wall thanks, I'm still hoping I can experience that before I get too damn old to give a shit.   ;;D

I've been scratching my head but Billy Vera is of "Baja Okalhoma" fame, if I remember. I liked the HBO movie.

Wonder if he wrote some of the stuff in that flick....
