Can anyone help me with this?

I've been on the phone to my doc today talking about triptans and she is going to try and push for individual vials of imigran for me rather than the auto injector so i can dose at 2-3mg rather than at 5mg.

But she asked me to ask you helpful lot if any of you can get it like this ?

I'm guessing its not gonna be easy to get but she is willing to try, after telling her about the imitrex tip that lots of us use she wanted to do what she can to help..

Any advice would be great thanx

That is all I ever request from the Dr. The norm in the US is the autoinject but the pharmacies can special order the single dose vials. (they come 5 vials/box)

Here, the perscription must state "single dose vial" or the pharmacy will dole out the autoinject refill.

Try and get the 0.5ml insulin syringe. The needle is very small and you can control the dose very easily.

I know that there are some oehter people who have been able to get these. I always hated having to take the auto infejt, that is why I used the tip to the side.

Hello Ike:

All I ever get are the individual vials. In The 'States, these can be identified via the NDC number, 0173-0449-02. I don't know if your "Chemists" can do the same.

Also in most of The 'States, you need a prescription for the syringes. As Paul said, I use the finest 1/2 cc, 30 guage, insulin syringes that I can get. I use an alcohol "prep pad" on my skin to clean the area before injecting, and I'd recommend that you get some of those too.

I use close to 25, or 1/4 of a cc for my shots so that I can use up to 4 shots within 24 hours. With the DHE treatment I got about a month ago and the O2, I don't use anywhere near the amount of Imitrex I had been using.

ill ask about it and see where we get, my doc is great and will do all she can to get this done but she thinks its gonna be a battle !

anyone from the uk got it like this? helen dape ?

I have only ever had the auto injector so no idea, but i am at Queens square next tuesday so i will ask if they know if it is possible to get the vials.

Ike it IS possible to get the vials in the UK so don't worry. It should be in the BNF as to how to prescribe it but if not get your doctor to phone the pharmacist and check as to how to write out the prescription. You will need a prescription for syringes and a sharps bucket too.

thats what i wanted to hear ! ok while we were on the phone she said there was nothing in the BNF about it like that only the autoinject, so she wanted to know if anyone else could get it like that and how their docs go about getting it...?
