Title: Unique punishment... Post by lorac on Oct 27th, 2007, 9:52pm Front page news in our paper....Suspended student washes cars.. The middle School student had been suspended for fighting in school, and now had to face the man who would determine his fate.....His father. This boy had to hold up a sign saying I'm suspended from school ...let me wash your car for free!! Is it not sad that this is front page news today, When I was a kid, punishment was handed out as needed, no big news... The father god a lot of calls of congratulations, and ata boy.... Wish i had seen the sign, my truck is dirty !! Lorac |

Title: Re: Unique punishment... Post by BMoneeTheMoneeMan on Oct 28th, 2007, 12:15am Au contraire, mon ami. I think it is front page news because it is so rare that parents punish their kid these days. The dude will probably get sued and wind up in court :-/ |

I don't go for public humiliation so much. Some people have humiliated themselves in public by themselves but to have others make you do it seems a bit cruel. I wouldn't stop to get a wash to take advantage of the situation, or I would stop to get a wash and pay the kid, that can build character better I think, and a little self-esteem maybe, which is important. |

Title: Re: Unique punishment... Post by LeLimey on Oct 28th, 2007, 12:08pm I agree with Kevin, to make him do it for free is not right unless its clean all the family cars or something but for stangers? nope. Now if he'd had to clean cars at $5 a car until he'd made $50 with all the money going to OUCH I'd be saying "Perfect"! |

Title: Re: Unique punishment... Post by BarbaraD on Oct 29th, 2007, 5:49am I like the father's style. Maybe next time the kid will "think" before fighting. The kid is getting his energy out doing something useful (public service) and NOT going to jail (as a lot of schools would probably see to) and the father's in "charge" of the punishment. To me this makes sense. I'd probably get my car washed and congratulate the dad and tell the kid he's lucky to have a parent who cares. Hugs BD |
