I had a friend when I was growing up who had two pet turkeys. They made excellent guard dogs.

It sounds funny, but staying away from the turkeys is good advice for the average person. Turkeys can be downright mean when they take a mind to be. Between pecking, spurring and beating you with their wings, they can put a hurting on an adult, let alone a small child.

I see flocks of them in the woods around the cottage area once in awhile during summer months. Crossing roads they seem pretty brave, like they own the place. They're cool to watch, the male acts like a tough guy, attitude, and the females around him aren't skittish either. :)

I hate turkeys. Dumbest bird on the planet. They're good eatin tho! ;;D

I have some roosting in a tree by my office. I watch them fly down, eat some gravel and sun themselves before hitting the woods. Beautiful birds.
