Title: Finland Post by Paula on Oct 22nd, 2007, 7:51pm Just saw a post that Sanna is from Finland. My Dad was a full blooded Fin. I waould love to see Finland more than anyother place in this world. I Loved my Daddy very very very much and Would love to know more about his past. Even though he died at 84 years old He still had so much to tell me about himself, his youth, WWII, I wish I had started asking him sooner than I did. He was such an interesting man. The anniversary of his death was the 18th of this month, 5 years ago. So much of life lived. I wasn't ready for him to go. Nice to see you here Sanna. Love Paula (half a Fin anyway) |

Before he had his own show, the other cartoon on Huckleberry was Yogi. Chews could have been the Yogi of Jellystone park, levitating picnic baskets for ham sammichs. And neither he nor Booboo was Finn. Although Quicksdraw did all the thinnin' around here Babalooie, being that Quicksdraw had a better KaBonggggg with his guitar than speed with his gun, he wasn't known to do his thinnin' in Finn making it possible that Chewy fits here because non-Finn KaBongggg thinnin' is beginnin' to be familiar. So if Chewy happened to do some KaBongggging with his boat while eating ham sammichs he may have been under the same tutelage that Tennessee Tuxedo had under Phineas J. Whoopie, who was not Finn, therefore Chewy may resemble all these cartoons, but may not possibly fit in between 10:00am and 11:00am Saturday morning. Tough question Jonny. |

Title: Re: Finland Post by Batch on Oct 23rd, 2007, 12:47am Kevin, Very impressive logic… but you forgot to mention the puppet show called "Time for Beany", where Cecil would sing “you’ll never get rid of that #... ##, no matter where you go.” Then there was Princess Summerfallwinterspring, Chief Thunderthud, Flubadub, and of course, Howdy and Buffalo Bob… |

Title: Re: Finland Post by sandie99 on Oct 23rd, 2007, 3:11am Paula, thank you for your kind words. :) If you have any questions about Finland, don't hesitate to ask. I'm proud to be a Finn and I love to talk about it anytime. :) It's always a pleasure to hear that someone wants to visit my home country! :) When you do visit Finland, let me know! I'm originally from the capital, Helsinki, but I live partly in Middle Finland, in a city called Jyväskylä. I know that lots of Finns, including my grandfather's brother, left for America long time ago. Some returned, others didn't, so I know that I have distant relatives somewhere in America, I always forget where. This thread gives me a good excuse to pressure my aunt for more details! Hugs & PF wishes, Sanna P.S. Jonny, thanks for your kind words, too! :) |

Title: Re: Finland Post by Paula on Oct 23rd, 2007, 8:07pm Oh My God! I laughed so hard at Kevins and Annettes posts. I cannot see Chewy as Yogi or Jonny as Booboo either! [smiley=laugh.gif] I am glad the post got off on a side road, I needed a good laugh. Sanna, I cannot remember how to spell anything in Finnish, They changed my greatgrandpa's name to Stonelake. And I beleave my grandma's maiden name was Kostinin(?). I will find out lots more when I go to my Moms on Sunday, She has some paper work. e-mail me if you want. I think it is on my profile. If not let me know. I am a computer baby (I don't know a whole lot about this thing) My kids are the adults when it comes to computers. I know just enough to get by. What really erks me is they can type faster than me! :) Thank You for the replys. OH, Jonny are you really half Finn? No wonder I laugh at all your jokes and think your long hair and tatoo's are sexy! ;) Love Paula |

Title: Re: Finland Post by sandie99 on Oct 24th, 2007, 8:56am Paula, many times I think that Jonny's jokes come from the Finn in him... ;;D I'd love to know more. Couple Finnish last names come to mind, but naturally I cannot be sure. :) Some changed their last names directly to English equivalent - if your relatives did the same, then the last name would be Kivijärvi (stone = kivi, lake = järvi). Your grandmothers maiden name reminds me of Koistinen, one last name around here. :) It's funny, but many Finns have complitely different last names than their ancestors; people have changed names for many reasons (my best friend's great grandfather altered theirs because it was too Swedish!). When my father's family did their family research, they found out that even our last name has traces from many changes and I could, in theory, have 3 other last names other than the one I have! :) Sanna |
