Title: The VA Post by Maffumatt on Oct 21st, 2007, 11:32am you all know my families struggle with the VA. There is almost no accountability within the system. We filed suit last week using a CA firm. They don't take cases they don't believe they can win. They are very good at what they do. Aside from monetary damages we are asking for reform within the system so this doesn't happen to other families. It is a crime that we can not go after those responsible individually. I was asked to keep you guys updated,,,so here it is. |

Title: Re: The VA Post by Maffumatt on Oct 21st, 2007, 11:53am I'd be much happier to just have Pop back the way he was. I wish this had never happened, I am following his wishes to the letter. |

Title: Re: The VA Post by Annette on Oct 21st, 2007, 12:50pm Matt, your dad is a wonderful man and I have a lot of respect for him. He deserves the very best of care. Even if what you are doing is not big enough to influence the whole system for the better, I hope it will create enough pressure to get those responsible to do the right thing for Pop. |

Title: Re: The VA Post by NJRik on Oct 23rd, 2007, 11:39am Matt, After I retired from the Navy I had to go through the VA scramble. Trying to work at a new job and jump the hurdles that the VA sets up for me were not worth it. I decided to not use the VA at all. I went with Tricare for all my medical needs. They are great. Can your father go this route? Rik |

Title: Re: The VA Post by Maffumatt on Oct 23rd, 2007, 12:16pm I wish he would have, we all tried to talk him out of using them, but he's a Matlock, we are all kinda bullheaded. Useing the VA cost my dad his life. Animals receive better care than my dad received. Socialized medicine anyone? |

Title: Re: The VA Post by purpleydog on Oct 24th, 2007, 8:09pm As Kirk said, let's hope this changes all VAMC's, they are piss poor at patient care. I'll not say more, it'll just be a rant. Matt, check yer pm's. If I can help, let me know. I feel a suit coming down from here too, and fairly soon. Pop's a great guy. It was great to meet him. :) You too. [smiley=hug.gif] You know how to reach me. |

Title: Re: The VA Post by john_d on Oct 24th, 2007, 9:38pm Remember your congress/senate reps can actually be a resource in stuff like this. Look at them, what demographic is driving them? They are all about votes. Write letters by hand and mention the groups you are involved with that are concerned with your situation and your well-being, be needy, be connected, be in the 'read' stack of letters. |
