Title: Messing with Cats
Post by George_J on Oct 14th, 2007, 12:23pm
Pretty slow morning around here, fly-fishing for cats...

http://www.creativefeathers.com/pics/102_pic.jpg

That's a Fly-O.  I use them to teach kids to cast a fly rod--they're a 3-foot section of fly-rod tip and a handle, with 12 feet of heavy orange yarn attached.  They duplicate the action of an actual fly rod.  Lay out 6 feet of yarn, and it's the equivalent of 30 feet of fly line.  Nobody actually buys these things, we just make 'em.

Cats love them.  Drop a good cast in a difficult lie somewhere in the living room, and you're pretty much guaranteed a heavy strike and a good tussle until you land the thing.  Catch and release.

The kitten's adopted one of them as her special possession--she drags it all over the house like a fresh kill.

Idleness is the devil's tool.  Looks like I'd better find something to do, eh?

Best,

George

Sounds like you and kitty are getting good practice in.

I love cat's hunting instincts, watching their concentration and intensity, sometimes they can leap up to catch it before it hits the ground.

That was great reading, George.  ;;D

I agree my cat torments the ground squirrels and mice don't stand a chance.

the only part I hate about my cat's hunting skills is when it brings the left overs at my front door  :(
