Prime Minister John Howard - Australia

Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia law were told on Wednesday to get out of Australia , as the government targeted radicals in a bid to head off potential terror attacks.
A day after a group of mainstream Muslim leaders pledged loyalty to Australia and her Queen at a special meeting with Prime Minister John Howard, he and his Ministers made it clear that extremists would face a crackdown. Treasurer Peter Costello, seen as heir apparent to Howard, hinted that some radical clerics could be asked to leave the country if they did not accept that Australia was a secular state, and its laws were made by parliament. "If those are not your values, if you want a country which has Sharia law or a theocratic state, then Australia is not for you", he said on National Television
"I'd be saying to clerics who are teaching that there are two laws governing people in Australia : one the Australian law and another Islamic law that is false. If you can't agree with parliamentary law, independent courts, democracy, and would prefer Sharia law and have the opportunity to go to another country, which practices it, perhaps, then, that's a better option", Costello said.
Asked whether he meant radical clerics would be forced to leave, he said those with dual citizenship could possibly be asked to move to the other country. Education Minister Brendan Nelson later told reporters that Muslims who did not want to accept local values should "clear off. Basically people who don't want to be Australians, and who don't want, to live by Australian values and understand them, well then, they can basically clear off", he said.
Separately, Howard angered some Australian Muslims on Wednesday by saying he supported spy agencies monitoring the nation's mosques. Quote: "IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT. Take It Or Leave It. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Bali , we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Australians."
"However, the dust from the attacks had barely settled when the 'politically correct' crowd began complaining about the possibility that our patriotism was offending others. I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge against anyone who is seeking a better life by coming to Australia ." "However, there are a few things that those who have recently come to our country, and apparently some born here, need to understand." "This idea of Australia being a multi-cultural community has served only to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity. And as Australians, we have our own culture, our own society, our own language and our own lifestyle."
"This culture has been developed over two centuries of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom"
"We speak mainly ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society . Learn the language!"
"Most Australians believe in God. This is not some Christian, right wing, political push, but a fact, because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture."
"We will accept your beliefs, and will not question why. All we ask is that you accept ours, and live in harmony and peaceful enjoyment with us."
"If the Southern Cross offends you, or you don't like "A Fair Go", then you should seriously consider a move to another part of this planet. We are happy with our culture and have no desire to change, and we really don't care how you did things where you came from. By all means, keep your culture, but do not force it on others.
"This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our Christian beliefs, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great Australian freedom,
'THE RIGHT TO LEAVE'."
"If you aren't happy here then LEAVE. We didn't force you to come here. You asked to be here. So accept the country YOU accepted."
Maybe if we circulate this amongst ourselves, American citizens will find the backbone to start speaking and voicing the same truths.

Quite a statement from a prime minister.

including...

Quote:

I don't know about spying on mosques here but the FBI is definitely not ignoring charitable organizations.

Quote:
Feds tie Dearborn charity to terror

Group accused of being a front for Hezbollah

Wednesday, July 25, 2007

Paul Egan / The Detroit News

DEARBORN -- The U.S. Treasury Department on Tuesday declared a Dearborn-based charity a front for the terrorist organization Hezbollah as FBI agents shut the group's offices and carted away boxes of records.

'''

The FBI in Detroit has used a strategy of fighting terrorism by attacking terrorists' suspected funding sources and Tuesday's move against Goodwill Charitable Organization is part of that effort.

...

In Dallas, a trial began Tuesday for five top officials of another Muslim charity, the Holy Land Foundation, accused of funneling money to Hamas.

Even though we have sucked up to the muslims enough to light up the Empire state building in green all weekend (this weekend), for one of their holidays......we have bigger problems!

http://youtube.com/watch?v=Ybthrn5-r8w

I dont see Muslims swimming across the ocean to get here, but, they can just walk across the southern border with the rest of the ciminaliens!

And that my friends......WILL be the Muslim with the dirty NUKE bomb!

Think about it, thats all I ask!

You may not have to wait for long.

We are close to our next federal election & if this snotty nosed little royalist bigot regains power Australia will become the 51 st State of the US.

Gibbering Johnny Howard is so far up Bush’s posterior you can only see the soles of his shoes poking out

I agree with what he is quoted as saying & you wont get an argument from me; I’m an Australian & bloody proud of it, but you have to consider that with an election expected to be called this weekend & that non Australian citizens aren’t allowed to vote then why not say what every Australian says daily in the street, it’s a good little vote grabber.

Great post Jonny, it's good to see that you are keeping up with the going's on in the land of where we walk upside down.

Regards
Barry

John Howard does this little polical stunt every time it comes to election.

Last time it was boat people. He was ready to throw any boat person in jail as soon as one set foot on Australian land. This time he is jumping on the Muslims.

I dont disagree with what was said. I totally agree that anyone coming to live in Australia should respect the culture and learn the language and blend in with the community. Having lived here from a young age I am much more Australian than Chinese in every way. I am what they call "banana Asian" ie yellow skin on the outside but white on the inside. However, since I look Asian it doesnt matter what I think or do, people who dont know me automatically assume that I am here as an illegal immigrant rorting the welfare system. Every time there is some sort of political issue with illegal immigrants or welfare problems, I would cop racist comments from total strangers walking down the streets. I have been told more times than I care to remember to " Go home to China" " We dont want you here " " Asian pigs" ....

My point is, when something like this is announced officially in such an "angry" way, it tends to create a mass response. Although the statement applies only to "those who dont want to conform", it creates a generalised sentiment in the community. Then as an individual walking down the streets, if you look Asian or Middle Eastern or Hispanic, or anything but white, you will get hatred look and racist comments thrown your way.

Interestingly, if you look back into the history of Australia, it was the white people of England who came here and imposed their ways on the Aboriginals. When Captain Cook set foot on this new found land, he would have had no intention to conform to the culture of the natives. Then came the boats unloading the convicts onto the island, followed by the settlers. They sure didnt ask the permission of the local people to do so. They sure didnt learn the Aboriginal culture nor trying to speak the language. In fact, if the Aboriginals didnt like the idea of these new comers taking over their land, they either put up with it or got killed!

America has a similar historical incidence with the native Indians. If the early settlers had decided to adapt to the local culture and way of life, we would now have Americans wearing war paints and throwing tomahawks.

I am all for uniting Australians and respecting the mainstream culture and learning the language, but I dont like it when generalised statement like this is made purely for personal political gain.

Politicians who can fix our ailing health care system, who can make the welfare system fair for all, who can build more schools and make universities accessible to all students, who can make the legal system work better ... ie who can help make our lives more safe and healthy .... are more deserving of the votes.

Just my 2 cents.

Annette

I couldn’t agree with you more; Nina was born in the Ukraine, her colour is white & she looks totally Australian but when it’s revealed that she originally came from the Ukraine the reaction from some is “So you’re a WOG”.

Guess what “they never get to try the brilliant Ukraine cuisine “

Cheers

Hey Barry....I have a friend who lives in the beautiful city of Zaporizhyhia.

The Ukraine is a fascinating place with a rich history !!!

The people are generally very intelligent. And the women beautiful !!!

After The Orange Revolution in the 80's I thought The Ukraine would really have a gigantic push by the younger people to adopt a really positive attitude on their country's future.

Unfortunately, after many years of hardship, many are left with skepticism !!!

It is a shame because Ukraine has so much potential even though it isn't part of the E.U.'s trade partners.

Today the average Ukrainian with a college degree usually makes less than $300 a month.

Home ownership is VERY difficult as the average flat can cost $18,000

Very difficult to buy a home at that wage.

Anyways, does Nina ( I assume your wife) ever get back to visit Ukraine?

A very reasonably priced  place to visit if you have contacts.

Cheers, Dave
