Title: Re: Baby due in 4 days Post by Ray on Oct 6th, 2007, 2:52am Dear Granny Jen: This is fabulous news and I am excited for you. My best wishes for you and the family. Being the token hetero among my siblings, I am the only one likely to produce grandkids (my eldest son is 20). I know I'll be absolutely bonkers to be a granddad. It will be fun to spoil the grandkids rotten and hand them back to their parents. Paybacks are heck...heh heh heh! Ray |

Now go join those Dancing Grannies who tap dance in all the parades around here..... |

Title: Re: Baby due in 4 days Post by DennisM1045 on Oct 6th, 2007, 12:34pm Hi Jen, I missed this somehow. I can't tell you how jealous I am. I have four kids over 21 and no grandbabies to show for it ;) I'm so thrilled for you and your daughter. I know things have been strained between you but maybe this will bring you guys together. There is nothing like the birth of a child to put everthing else into it's proper perspective. I hope this is the tonic you two need to move beyond where you are and closer together again. There is nothing like holding a new born, listening to them breath and sqeak and cry. I love to hold them to my chest when the house is all quiet. It is truly magical. Here's a little story for ya. When my last little one was born Andrea had a c-section. Emma was breach. While they were sewing her up, I got to spend some bonding time with Emma in a separate room. She was in an open incubator, the lights were low and Emma was wide awake and staring at me. I put my finger into her little hand. She held my finger, my gaze and my heart for 10 minutes before the spell was broken by a Nurse who came in to bathe her. She five now and still holds my heart. Some babies are born with an 'old soul'. I never knew what that meant before that day. It seemed that the knowledge of the entire universe was held in her eyes. -Dennis- |

Title: Re: Baby due in 4 days Post by Ree on Oct 7th, 2007, 12:24am Being a grandmom doesnt make ya old... it makes you lucky... I like to think I still have it and I have 3 grand kids. You have to think up a really cool name that that baby can call you... Im Nana-Ree... which comes out like NanaLee when my daughter in law says it which makes me smile. Wait til you see how much you love that kid... its so strange... a baby you get to take, to love, to cuddle, and give back... and it got here in someone elses uterus... sounds cool to me... Congratulations I think its great... you need a rocking chair to complete the Grandma picture... love ree |
