Title: Re: Nostalgic Car video Post by assaultme on Oct 5th, 2007, 12:26pm That was so KOOL!!! I like the old Ford Flatheads. The Bantam roadsters were such kool altered drag cars back in the day !! Saw a few lose control and mow down the Christmas tree. I used to like to watch the Gassers run. Back before safety was such a concern, we used to watch the (brand new NHRA class) funny cars run...4 abreast !!! Yup, 2 side by side in each lane. The first flip-top funny was Dyno Don Nicholson... Eliminator I. Today it is a big buck business where the average guy cant class-race. The engines cost more than my house today !!! The early funnys had people like Don Prudhomme and Jungle Jim Leiberman. Sometimes Jungle Jim would almost hit the wall and lose the race, but he would jump out on top of the car and the crowd would go crazy for his antics. Saw all the classic cars run: Little Red Wagon, Green Monster, Terrifying Toranado, Glass Slipper, Stone, Woods & Cook, Malco Gasser, funnys, altereds, gassers, pro-stocks, and front engine dragsters. We ran "C-altered" when I was a kid. Did well locally. But "The Little Screamer" of Jack Ditmars would clean our clock every time. That very car is here locally being totally restored by a nostalgia collector !!! What fond memories...thanks!!!! ;;D |
