Title: Re: 36 hours Post by PollyPocket on Oct 4th, 2007, 5:52pm Matt, you know you're supposed to pick up your toys and put them away when you're done playing with them instead of leaving them scattered about! Now go sit in that recliner over there, drink your beer, close your eyes and think about what you've done! ;;D Hugs, Jen |

Title: Re: 36 hours Post by Sean_C on Oct 4th, 2007, 9:55pm Just curious.....................would those cars be considered totalled, or salvagable? How much does a box cost new? How much is an engine? Cheers, Sean...................... |

Title: Re: 36 hours Post by Maffumatt on Oct 5th, 2007, 9:33am All is well, no injuries but to my pride. We got them all back up on the rail and will have to buy one of them, it was totaled. We are rebuilding the track today and will be running on it by the morning. The other 5 cars will need new brake rigging and some structural work but the linings are all ok. The cause was track failure compounded by human error. Those cars are sugar hoppers, made in the early 80's. I don't know the cost but our deductible is 20 K. We had Holcher come out with side booms to rerail the cars. A sideboom is a modified D6 dozer that picks up one side of the car and another picks up the other side, they carry it to good track, then you rebuild the truck sets and roll them under it. Those guys are good but it takes 10 K just to get them out of the office. |

Title: Re: 36 hours Post by Mosaicwench on Oct 5th, 2007, 4:37pm And I think it's a lot to have $100 deductibles on my insurance . . . . . Glad you got it cleaned up. |
