Godsmack - Good Times, Bad Times (http://wm.allaccess.com/allaccess/godsgood.wma)

This is my problem, you can never make an unbelievabley great song better, so why fuck yourself trying.

wow... That's right "up" there with Metallica's version of "Turn the Page".

They're sooo much better than that. Don't know why they would even TRY to record something like that...

Better luck next time, Godsmack.....

Thanx(??) for sharing...  [smiley=laugh.gif]

It's kinda hard to cover for the hammer of the gods, not a bad try though.

The drummer plays this one fantastic !!! ABSOLUTELY !!! I like the exact replication of the 1/4 notes on the bass drum in the beginning.

Yeah, it's impossible to cover something like that and expect it to be "better"

I think often times bands do these tribute songs just because they love the original.
The problem with covers expected to be better is that the original is what the original artist had as his/her vision. How can you make that "better"...well, you cant
We have a half a dozen of our own original tunes me & Dave play. He wrote them, I put the grooves to them.

Even though there are a million better drummers than myself, it is MY groove. Our tune!!!

I still like Linda Rhondstat's covers. Her version of Martha's "Heat wave" is great. But the original is the original !!!

You wouldn't believe all the "covers" that are thought to be originals !!!
SOOOO many great tunes were ripped off by the great black blues musicians.

It's funny, over the years I have heard people say: "Oh man !! you heard this new tune Dave?"
To which I reply: "Uh, thats a cover of Ice Cream Man"

But hey, music is an art form and "subjective" If you like it...it is kool.
Cheers, Dave

Axel's "Sympathy for the Devil" was to me one cover he should have been smacked for, ;;D   Like you say though Dave, he probably did it 'cause he liked it, but no, he's not Mick Jagger.  ;)

OMG Kevin !!! I think axel sucks as a singer regardless. No offense to any of his fans here. Like I say, music is a matter of opinion....I think we are in total agreeance on that one  [smiley=laugh.gif]

Also, about 1980, Hall and Oates with a string of hits did a remake of "You've Lost That Loving Feeling".
However ambitious, there was just no fucking way it would ever possibly compare.  As a decision, despite whatever sales to keep them in the spotlight, a turn-off.  Some songs should be left as forever remembered.
