Title: Re: If You Post by Charlie on Sep 29th, 2007, 8:22pm :o Matt :D I can't help but think that one of these days, some zealot will sneak by with explosives that pass for underwear. That will make for some interesting times at the airport. On the other hand it will be a real boon for your dogs. They will be breaking down the door to get in on the ground floor....http://www.netsync.net/users/charlies/gifs/dogpileup.gif Charlie |

Saw on the news today that a woman was in hancuffs and in a holding cell at the Pheonix airport where I had those problems died, they are saying she choked herseld to death. That sounds fishy to me too. How could a handcuffed woman choke herself? Sounds like one of those 'suicides' where the victim shoots himself repeatedly in the head. |

Title: Re: If You Post by Kevin_M on Sep 30th, 2007, 1:17pm Unrelated, but being a thread about flying and security, I thought I'd post some things. Scroll down past the hyperlinks and wording, there is a complete listing of permitted and prohibited items when traveling. http://www.tsa.dhs.gov/travelers/airtravel/prohibited/permitted-prohibited-items.shtm Below links to consumer complaints for airlines but keep in mind airlines have perhaps already made attempts to resolve the issues and DO NOT wish to have an FAA reporting, many more exist than displayed here. FAA reporting seems to touch airline customer relations from the top down, affecting the evaluation negatively of the HQ head for that department as well as creating more work to address. http://airconsumer.ost.dot.gov/reports/ I clicked on MSWord format for the most recent report to view on my computer. It appears the later in the day of arrivals and departures, the larger percentage of delays. Also, complaints are almost double to the FAA this year compared to last year. It may appear that with cost-effectiveness, some airlines place less value on concern when they have a high dominant presence in certain cities; lack of choice can lead to less concern. If interested, viewing past reports may reveal a continual pattern for some airlines or if they've made attempts to improve on a comparable monthly level with all other competition through time. Otherwise sub-par service will seem an accepted practice for them and resolving issues more difficult, being the complaints listed have had to been brought to the level of FAA reporting. *trying to correct second link. *now ok, click on 2007, but I have now noticed it is DOT reporting for consumers instead. Sorry, FAA gets notifications too, which are troublesome to airlines. |

Title: Re: If You Post by Charlie on Oct 1st, 2007, 9:34am Saw "The High And The Mighty" some time ago. It's a 1953 forerunner to airplane disaster flicks with John Wayne, Robert Stack and a host of other pretty well-known character actors of the period. One passenger carries a gun on board, tries to use it, gets the gun taken away, calms down by the end of the movie and is given his gun back from the passenger holding it for him before the plane lands. People are wearing suits and ties and smoking all the way from Honolulu to San Francisco. Charlie |

Title: Re: If You Post by john_d on Oct 1st, 2007, 5:55pm Lesson learned- if you think you are going to have a nervous breakdown during the course of the day, stay away from the airport. Poor lady. |

Title: Re: If You Post by Kevin_M on Oct 1st, 2007, 7:21pm I can understand somebody having to address and act for continued erratic behavior at an airport gate. Resulting in death though will be fully investigated, decisions were made but perhaps only an autopsy will tell. It is not understandable at all to choke being handcuffed. Facts will be revealed and I hope all truthful. Admittedly, I haven't read a full account or explanation believable how it could have happened and remain patient as opposed to the press reading in headlines, I don't have any insight to help explain. Very, very unfortunate and expect the utmost diligence put toward a full account and revealing that was involved. |
