Title: Can anyone tell me why..... Post by Jonny on Sep 29th, 2007, 5:53pm Judge Judy and Dr Phil make 30 million a year? I break my balls everyday and just make the climb over the hump. http://www.a-dzign.com/jonny/jonny-working.jpg Dr Phil would not last two hours in my shop doing what I do. Its back breaking work and I have five buldging discs in my back. Maybe im just envious, but 30 million just for showing up is beyond my reality. Attorneys and judges get a lot of money because of their education and expertise and so on...but 30 million is way more than she's worth. Same thing for Dr. "how's that working for you" Phil. |

And I'm not gonna hit Forbes anytime soon. But I CHOSE my career. I'm proud of what I do and don't want to be anyone else but me. It's one of the things that make this country great. Get an idea (no matter how silly) and make a million bucks. Nothin wrong with that. If a baseball player gets a 10 million dollar contract, I don't hate him for it. I don't think I am entitled to his cash. Both of those shows are "ignunt" One has a self-righteous old broad who cops attitudes on people, then forgets all about justice being blind. The other is some balding over the hill guy who gives his pseudo-advise. Either way, I don't fault them for it. I need to come up with a new silly idea. How bout "yellow tidy bowl"...you don't have to flush as often...save on water. Would be a big hit with the water conservation crowd. [smiley=laugh.gif] [smiley=laugh.gif] [smiley=laugh.gif] Adjustable shoes for people who have one foot bigger than the other. That way they don't have to risk getting caught at Wal-Mart swapping out the shoes. Besides, it sucks when I buy a pair of shoes and get a left sized 8-1/2 and a right sized 14. Just because someone doesn't have a degree they treat you like dirt... I am going through this right now... Like you I also went to a tech school jonny... I have 12 years experience with kids, because I ran my own daycare/preschool. I got licensed by the state after being a hairdresser for 15 years when I had Breezy. So when I left daycare last year I became an aide in the classroom in the preschool for special needs kids. I was over qualified for that position but loved it and they treated me like gold. so last year my supervisor offered me that job as a Behavior Tech...its an up and coming position working with Autistic kids (whom I love and work very well with). I took the position was trained for it, and up to July I was hired for the position. In Aug they called me to tell me because I didnt have the right degree I couldnt have the position... Now they moved me to a classroom with older kids with special needs... and I am a one on one aide with an older Autistic child... and now they treat me like rock fungus. Just the other day they told me I will still have to do discrete trials with this child... which is the work they trained me for... but they don't want to pay me for it or give me the title I deserve......what should I do...? jonny the world is damn lucky to have us in it, and someday all those rich people will be cleaning our toilets when we get to Heaven because we love people and that is what Life is really all about. College grads always get the job...even if you are better qualified. The business rationale is that the grad. will likely have more "potential" Sometimes true...often in practice not true at all. But you can find a business to own/operate that will do you well. My motorcycle business helped me afford a family of 5 for many years. Having a business is a huge advantage for the regular guy/gal. You can write off so many things legally. My Brother started his own plumbing business after getting tired of working for someone else. Him & his wife make fat cash. If they don't appreciate you Ree...kick em to the curb. I'll bet you will do great no matter what you chose to do. Cheers, Dave |

She must have huge investments elsewhere because there is no way that TV show can pay her 30 mil a year. That puts her far ahead of actors from Friends, Seinfeld, and the Sopranos. In fact, that makes prime time television stars suck at her kneecaps. I wonder where she makes it. |

Some odd people do get their chance with fame, few make some money during their 15 minutes, but nothing like that. Ok, I have seen few episodes of Dr Phil (and Oprah), but Judge Judy has never been on in here during my TV watching time, so I cannot comment her show. I didn't like Dr Phil's style, but still, I must admit that I'd rather give money to him than many of the so-called famous people here in Finland! They got their "fame" without doing anything... what I understand, at least Dr Phil actually has a degree from psychology and has done actual work in that field before Oprah discovered him. Correct me if I'm wrong about that; I'm not that interested in that show. Back in here almost everyone (I'm talking about younger generations now) has a degree; some from university, some from polytechnics/university of applied sciences. These days those who study for 6 years to get their respected degrees cannot afford to live unless they work on the side and once they graduate the jobs are scarce. Those who studied applied sciences can get jobs easier and it's not unusual that for someone like them to have a house, car and money in the bank before they even hit 25. Then again, nurses are not paid that much money, no matter how much their skills are appreciated. I do not believe that it's fair, either. So peeps, move to Finland, your skills will be appreciated!
