Title: Re: cant find the "best guitar player thread& Post by assaultme on Sep 27th, 2007, 8:17pm OI, there are sooo many greats and sooo many genre's I couldn't begin to say. But I like Steve Howe from "Yes" His classical style fused with progressive rock sent a chill up my spine when I saw him play in 78. But yeah, you're a music lover too Charlotte and your choice of Eric Clapton is a good one as well. Dave |

If you like Stevie Ray Vaughan, you will like Indigenous. http://www.indigenousrocks.com/ http://www.myspace.com/indigenousrocks More samples of Indigenous tunes. Enjoy! |

Title: Re: cant find the "best guitar player thread& Post by assaultme on Oct 1st, 2007, 6:33pm Redd...you bet Santana. Carlos is so good he can play with almost anyone. Did you hear the tune he did with Rob Thomas "Smooth" How bout with Michelle Branch "Game of love" Yeah, he is so distinctive. He doesn't play 20 seconds and you know it's him. Yeah 2late...the left handed genius Jimi is tops. He used to wrap that big thumb of his around the neck and make bar chords. Yeah, he's right up there too. He gave Randy California his name (guitar player from "Spirit" They met in a guitar store I think in N.Y. He told him: "I'll call you Randy California"..the name just stuck. BB King needs no introduction....a legend. Many of his original guitar riffs were recycled and used by top rock guitar players over the years. It's no surprise considering that rock sprang from the blues musicians of the South. Cheers, Dave |

As well as from "slave field songs", Rock music has many genras to thank. Carlos Santana evolkes in me an emotion I can't explain. But... there are some genras that I just can't wrap my ears around. |

Title: Re: cant find the "best guitar player thread& Post by assaultme on Oct 1st, 2007, 7:16pm You bet Redd !!! Jazz plays a part too. Indeed slave field songs were the roots as well. Yeah, I agree...Carlos' guitar makes me "feel" as well. That is when you know an artist is great. He/she can paint a picture in your mind with only sound. Me too about some genres' I appreciate them, but dont listen to them all. Cheers, Dave |
