Title: Wedding Pics
Post by Sandy_C on Sep 27th, 2007, 1:14pm
Here are a few pictures, taken by friends.  If these are any indication, the professional photographs are going to be awesome!

Great photos, Sandy.  The bride's gown is gorgeous.

Now please explain the "sand ceremony" to me.

OK, Bossman has now left the office, so now I can have some fun.

As for the house shown in pic #4 (I think), sorry, I get first dibs.  It's gorgeous, fronts on the Cape Fear River and is huge.  It might be a Bed & Breakfast, but I'm not sure.  Whatever, I WANT IT!  And there is an entire three blocks of these houses down the row.  Gorgeous.  Unfortunately, none are for sale, and even if they were, I couldn't afford one.

Sand Ceremony.  I had never heard of it before, but Christine read about it.  It's sort of like a Community Candle Ceremony, where the mothers light smaller candles, then the bride and groom light candles from their mother's candle, and then light a larger community candle.

One large empty jar, two medium sized jars filled with different colors of sand, and two small jars with a small amount of those colors of sand are placed on the altar.  One color is for signifies the woman, the other, the man.

Jason's mom, when she was escorted down to the "altar", using one of the small jars, poured a small amount of blue sand in the large, center jar.  When I was escorted down, I poured a small amount of yellow sand in the same jar.  This forms the "foundation" of the union.

Then, after the vows and ring exchange, Chris and Jason, at the same time, from the medium sized jars, poured  her yellow and  his blue sand in to the large center jar, making a really pretty layered sand.    This layering of their colors signifies their unity.  It's a very beautiful ceremony, and I like the significance of it.

I'm glad you are enjoying the pics.  I hope to be able to post more from the professional photographer.

Sandy
