Title: Credit where credit is due.... Post by DonnaH on Sep 26th, 2007, 10:53pm I strongly believe in giving credit and applause to those who deserve it. I also try to put myself into other peoples shoes...to understand where they are coming from. I think I kind of know how Barbara D feels about OUCH. She was there for the first orginalizational meeting along with Kip, Drummer, and whoever else was there in Daves garage. She did the paperwork for the non-profit status, set up the bank account, managed the store from her own office donating her own staff to do the work for us, spent who knows how much money in doing all of this and much more than she will ever tell. Of course she is upset with the changes because they are not exactly what this group had in mind. Her baby was taken over by others, and many changes were made. Whether it is was for the good or bad, a mother feels a loss when her baby grows into something other than what she expected. I'm sure that many of you will think that I might be overdramatising this, (including Barbara) but being an old softie, I have a gut feeling that this is what she feels. Instad of chastising this good woman, we should try to be understanding, instead of critical. I say she deserves an Honorary Membership into the OUCH Hall of Fame. She owns a piece of OUCH. We owe her our gratitude. Thank you, Barbara, for your time, effort and monitary contribution to our cause. |

She did quite an undertaking with full heart, soul, and extraordinary effort, if there was more thought of to accomplish at the time she would have done it. I know this is a rare woman and in many others ways has lived and reflected this activist manner throughout her life, mentioned here at OUCH's inception and with people, especially if the chips are down shines brightest. Whenever she might happen to, she can keep reason and maintain sanity being the fairest sounding bitch I ever heard. ;) luvya Barbie. Quote:
I've a gut feeling she feels a seven coming on. |

Title: Re: Credit where credit is due.... Post by BarbaraD on Sep 27th, 2007, 6:05pm Thank you all for the kudos. But Donna you left out someone who was a really BIG part of the start of OUCH -- (and I can't really believe I'm doing this [smiley=huh.gif] ) Bob P :-* :-* :-* He set up the orginal OUCH website and kept it going for a LOT of years. He acted as OUCH president when the current presidents were too "shy" to get up in front of conventions - then as President during 2 terms in which he did a LOT of good things. He was instrumental in putting the first OUCH convention together in Las Vegas and did a great job of it. He got our first OUCH tee shirts printed (the ones that said "Oganization for Understanding Cluster Headaches" -- the ones that are collectors items today). He was instrumental in setting up the OUCH store. He got the first "grant" from GSK. Bob has done more than anyone knows over the years and even when I disagree with him (which is most of the time) I admire what he's done and him as a person. He's just opinionated that's all. ;;D OUCH took a lot of people to get it going. They all derserve credit. Hugs BD |

Title: Re: Credit where credit is due.... Post by Kevin_M on Sep 27th, 2007, 7:00pm A gracious and thoughtful acknowledgment of the legacy Booby's made. I can remember his attractive business ways and t-shirt welcoming acceptance to me when I arrived. Very pleasantly surprising. Still though, why did Chewy allow him the yacht, break a bottle of DDT on the hull, steal the rudder, cut a stencil of the Mona Lisa into the sails, and plot his course then swallow the paper. You were instrumental and perfect compliment with this start, Barb :) In fact, you two growing together, I might dare say him to have some of your qualities, in a Booby way. ;) Interesting to be in conversation with both of you in a room. |

Title: Re: Credit where credit is due.... Post by DonnaH on Sep 27th, 2007, 7:02pm Yes, the current BOD. Everyone who has ever worked for OUCH did it with dedication and committment. Every regime has new ideas. Those who left before their terms ended did so for good reasons......not slackers......not quiters. If you weren't there at the time, you couldn't know about the what's and if's. The current board is obviously working very hard......and deserves credit for doing what they believe will further our cause and benefit our members. We've had some very devoted people at the wheel, and I agree that Bob P probably, no, certainly put in more hours and effort than anyone else that I am aware of. I've asked Barbara for a picture of that garage gang and will request that it be posted in a permanent place somewhere on the OUCH site. Ya' know, history.....where OUCH was born. Thank you all......then and now......for all being done on our behalf. |
