Title: What have you done...
Post by Mrs Deej on Sep 26th, 2007, 3:03pm
...today, to make you feel proud?!

My mother called this morning and needed to talk.  Her and my dad have been having issues...to say the least.  Well, my mom and I have always had a strained relationship growing up...and never have had those wonderful "girl" talks that T.V. portrays as normal.  Well, mom needed to have a talk, and a huge cry...a few times today on the phone.  It made me feel so proud that I was the one that she called and confided in, and we were able to leave all the bullshit aside.  It felt good to just let her vent and talk.

I know this may not be a big deal to most, but I have waited 27 years to have those "talks" today...and it felt good.

...what have you done today to make you feel proud?

Good on ya, Steph.

Today, even though I felt and still feel like shit, I dragged my ass out of bed, made the coffee, got in the shower, and made my way into work.

I'm slugging through some endless reports in preparation for taking a week off, sucking on cough drops and trying to stay focused.

Even though I can think of at least a dozen other things I'd rather be doing, this is what I do because it needs to be done.

I'm pretty proud of that.

Plus, I had the opportunity to tell my bride that I love her - three times.

Steph,

Nothing productive……….  I did elevate laziness into science………
and for my Ideas that is success…………….

Oh….. and did manage to take care of the kids without “killing” them………… (for the past 3 days)
and some futile posts on CH.com

I finished a $200,000.00 estimate in 2 1/2 days for a condo project in downtown Milwaukee.

My manager said everything was perfect. That made me feel proud!

We'll see how perfect it is when it comes to raise time in a few weeks ;;D

I love that song Steph...it's the theme song on the show called "The Biggest Loser"...about people who lose incredible amounts of weight.

It's so uplifting and inspiring...thanks for the "reminder"..

Thoughtfully, Sherri  :)

I have helped someone over the Internet find their way back to God, prayed for and received good medical news from them regarding their family, and learned that that person spent 2 hours in church giving thanks to God for it.

I can't tell you how good that feels.

Yelled at my gas supplier because he has not even started to build the regulator I asked him to build a week ago. This will be the 28th regulator I had built and and sent to a family member here that could not afford one.

The biggest kick I have gotten out of doing this is when someone sent me a check, I had told them not to.......I sent them a picture of their check all torn up.....LMAO! ;;D

I listened to my daughter tell me she quit her great job and is moving to El Paso with a guy she met on-line....and I didn't kill her.

Actually, I really listened to her, told her I wanted her to be happy, gave her my motherly advice and then shut my mouth.  Hardest thing I've had to do in a long time.

I successfully resuscitated a patient who collapsed in the waiting room with a heart attack and brought him back to life. I felt pleased with myself but not proud, because that is my every day job and I should be able to do it.

What actually made me feel proud was my 8 years old son telling me he stood up on the bus to school to give an elderly lady his seat. Now THAT made me feel proud!  :)

I just finished up the dishes (yes I dry them also) and right after this reply I will start a load of laundry.

Just want to take some of the load off Angie as she had to go after work to the Doc's for a stress test on her heart. She probably won't want me to cook dinner as I am better doing those other things that is a big help to her.

That was sweet what you did with your mom Steph.

I am proud to have defeated the possum that took up residence in my dresser drawer today. ;;D

I guess that's what can happen when you move out in a hurry, and leave all your stuff on a trailer in your buddys driveway for a month.

Oh well... Live and learn, I guess.  ;)

Worked on remodeling stuff today--finished the interior painting, and put new blinds on the windows.  Decided that what I really need to do to the bathrooms this winter is tear them down to the 2X4's and go from there.

That is an ugly realization.

I'm not exactly proud that I didn't just blow it off and go fishing, but I'm slightly amazed that I did not.  Could be it's a sign of pending maturity...but I doubt it.

Tomorrow is another day.

Best,

George

Wow!!!!  You done good!  (and we thought teenagers were rough.)
Fortunately, since one of my chickens is out on her own again,  I am blissfully unaware of her whereabouts. (as it should be...)

Hugs to you!

I sat in the office for a hour and a half tonight to esure the ad a very good customer placed was "just right".  The customer normally doesn't leave proofing her ads to the Rep, but she knows I know what she wats, as while she is off in Cancun (she didn't take me by the way  :'( )
I'm getting over a grand worth of ads proofed on her behalf for the next week.

I'm proud she trusts me enough to leave this in my hands.

First of all... Steph, I know how you feel. I'm still waiting for my mother to treat me like an adult with a mind of her own. I'm glad of the breakthrough you had with your mother. :)

What have I done to make me feel proud?

Well, I'm proud that I walked to the city centre to run my errans (including an eye test with optician) although I had a lot of physical pain and each step hurted like hell.

I'm proud that I went to listen a lecture about pain just in case I'd learn something which could help us all with ch although I was tired and shadowing.

I'm proud that our shy guinea pig Kasper trusts me now so much that he allows me to stroke him.
And the other guinea pig Eetu trusts me enough not to bite me while I stroke him (he tries to bite Timo).

These days I'm proud of the little things, such as writing some more of my work before getting hit. :)

Well Steph and Sanna,

I too went to the optician yesterday and mine can now take a photo of the eyes to check for different things.

As I actually had CH pain in my one eye at the time, only about 3 - 4 ish, I asked for it to be done I thought it would be interesting to see if there was any difference to be seen.

There wasn't the blood vessels and everything else looked exactly the same on each eye. Which was quite nice to know actually because it is easy to imagine all sorts of crazy goings on isn't it!!! No nail through the eye ball nothing! :o

The newly qualified, very young optician asked in detail about my general health before he began his eye test.

I am proud that I explained about my CH as clearly as I did, this was greatly due to what I have learnt recently on this site. it is the first time I have explained it to someone and they have understood, I was impressed that he knew what it was as well.  ;;D

That's fantastic!!!! ;;D ;;D ;;D

And I'm proud that ispite of all ch pain and other things, my eye sight has stayed percisely the same as it was the last time it was tested in 2004. :) That makes me believe that my eye sight will, like my fathers, get better as years go by. :)

I didnt do it today Mrs. Deej...but it happened last week at the local DMV

No offense to any State workers here, I am sure some work very hard.
But our local Dept. of Motor Vehicles is full of a bunch of lazy ass slackers who think you should kiss their butt to get assistance with your lisc. plates.

I was at the DMV and it was hotter than blue blazes outside. There was a line of people going out the door waiting for a new sticker.

The DMV jackass told people to close the door and shut others out because the air was on ( air I am paying for)

A woman was holding a baby in her arms and the jackass started like pushing her outside. I said: "HO, wait a minute..there is room in front of me in line...she can come here!!!"  He said she could just wait outside. I explained to him that the baby could not take the heat and it is the right thing to do to let the woman in...she could even have my place in line.

Well, he decides to ignore me and tries to shut her outside.
I got infuriated at him and took her by the shoulder and moved her in front of me in line.

I told him: "Now, you think you're gonna put her outside you slacker...just try it !!!" I was pissed at him. I said: "What kind of man are you anyways!!"

People began to clap...he went away mad  [smiley=laugh.gif]  [smiley=laugh.gif]   [smiley=laugh.gif]

The only thing that really bothered me was that no one else stood up for her & her baby.

Am I right? was he acting like a jackass?...I think so.

Yeah, I felt good that day.
Cheers, Dave

boss is going out of town next week and we have 2 pools going in. We made a list of everything that needs to be done next week for both jobs to go smoothly.....  I've gotten it all done already :)

We were discussing the upcoming projects while he is away and he said: ".... and with you at the helm, I know I have nothing to worry about."    Yeah, I'm kinda proud of doing a good job and my boss having trust in me.   :D
