Title: Just some thoughts …… Post by wildhaus on Sep 26th, 2007, 5:17am I have been forced to sit at home fort the past 3 days….. with so much time on hand I was going back and forth over the Boards on CH.com trying to educate my self; there is so much wisdom on the boards. And at times less……. After going over so many posts, I have looked in the Talmud and Old Testament, (the first, my favourite book of all) for Proverbs / Sayings / parables to reflect what I was thinking at that moment of time: „The highest form of wisdom is kindness” …… "A person who seeks help for a friend, while needy himself, will be answered first" ........ “You can educate a fool, but you cannot make him think” ……. “If silence be good for the wise, how much better for fools” …….. “Who is wise? One who learns from all” … “The end result of wisdom is... good deeds” …… “Join the company of lions rather than assume the lead among foxes” …….. “Examine the contents, not the bottle”……. “Who can protest an injustice but does not is an accomplice to the act” ……”No labor, however humble, is dishonoring” ….. “Don't use the conduct of a fool as a precedent”……. “Life is so short we must move very slowly”……. “Who is a hero? He who conquers his urges“…… „Thy friend has a friend, and thy friend's friend has a friend; be discreet” …… “For the unlearned, old age is winter; for the learned it is the season of the harvest.” …… “Man has three friends on whose company he relies. First, wealth - which goes with him only while good fortune lasts. Second, his relatives - they go only as far as the grave and leave him there. The third friend, his good deeds, go with him beyond th” …… “A person will be called to account on Judgment Day for every permissible thing he might have enjoyed but did not.” …… “Hire yourself out to work, which is beneath you, rather than become dependent on others” “Whoever destroys a single life is as guilty as though he had destroyed the entire world; and whoever rescues a single life earns as much merit as though he had rescued the entire world” “There are stars who's light only reaches the earth long after they have fallen appart. There are people who's remembrance gives light in this world, long after they have passed away. This light shines in our darkest nights on the road we must follow.” the last one I will live in Aramaic “dy le’hakima birmisa” Michael |

What's not to believe in? If one says they don't believe in the Bible, they're saying they don't believe in some awesome wisdom. Which would be neither awesome nor wise. ;) |

Title: Re: Just some thoughts …… Post by Sandy_C on Sep 26th, 2007, 2:27pm Thank you Michael. I did a copy and paste of all the wisdom you posted. It is something I will read often and try to live by. My favorite one was "For the unlearned, old age is winter; for the learned it is the season of the harvest.” Many good things to reflect on and to use in my daily life. Thanks again. Sandy |

Title: Re: Just some thoughts …… Post by Callico on Sep 26th, 2007, 2:41pm Excellent post Michael. I too appreciate your thoughtfulness on the board and look forward to meeting you. Proverbs is also one of my favorite books in the Bible, as it was for Abraham Lincoln, and was the basis for his famous quote that, "It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt." therefore, I'll :-X ;;D Jerry |
