Title: Re: We're at it again... Post by Mosaicwench on Sep 10th, 2007, 10:12am Ah, Wheels for Josh - it's a great cause!! Dan and Stacey's grandson's both have Duchene's Muscular dystrophy. They are currently 8 and 10 years old. They probably will not live past their mid 20's, confined to a wheelchair and fighting to live everyday. Dan and Stacey (neighbors and friends) went so far as to open a quality used bookstore of which ALL the profits go to Josh and his brother to offset the expenses of this horrific disease. If you can help we will all be truly grateful. :-* |

Title: Re: We're at it again... Post by Linda_Howell on Sep 10th, 2007, 12:52pm Obviously, I can't be there (unless someone wants to lend me their Lear jet) but check will be in the mail, along with some heavy-duty prayers and some lighting of candles at church. I SO, wish God would tell me why children have to suffer so.. :'( |

Title: Re: We're at it again... Post by Brewcrew on Sep 10th, 2007, 1:40pm Sorry, Rosy, but your answer hit a nerve with me. To say that innocent children who suffer is a lesson for the rest of us seems awfully short-sighted to me. What's in it for them? Your answer might be part of it, but it's not the whole thing. What if there is no answer to Linda's question? What if it's simply that evil still exists? What if it's that we're put here to love one another and that's it? I truly believe that there is no answer to Linda's question, but the fact that she asks it puts her at the head of the class in my book. |

Title: Re: We're at it again... Post by Rosybabe on Sep 10th, 2007, 3:49pm what's in it for them?...I guess the answer will depend on your personal religious believes...for me, that is what it is...these children come to the world with a porpouse and God's will is to have them back while they are inocent...they all are angels to me. Sorry if my answer does not work for you but this belief has help me and my family to bring closure to our personal pain. Yes it is a very short sighted opinion, it is only my humble opinion. I will never talk for everyone. Rosy. |

Title: Re: We're at it again... Post by Brewcrew on Sep 10th, 2007, 4:19pm I'm thankful it works for you. I think perhaps that we may be closer in our beliefs than either of us realize. |

Title: Re: We're at it again... Post by LeLimey on Sep 10th, 2007, 4:26pm I think I know what Rosy means - when you see a child who has the most awful things to battle, things no kid should even know about never mind endure - when you see one of those kids triumph, or smile, or laugh joyously it really is humbling to the rest of us. If they can find joy against adversity then so the hell can I! The greatest inspirations to live a better life and stop whining that I've had in my life have all been kids. God bless 'em all. Now this bookstore - is it "only" a shop or can you order books online or anything? I'd love to support that one. Is there a paypal address we can send money to? |

I had the same question on mind :D, it will be a lot easier to contribute to the cause. Please Brew let us know if there is such a thing available. |

Title: Re: We're at it again... Post by Brewcrew on Sep 10th, 2007, 4:46pm No, they don't have that sophisticated of an operation. All they can do is accept checks at the address above. Sorry. They will be happy to send you a receipt if you ask for one. Otherwise your cancelled check can be your receipt, too. |

Title: Re: We're at it again... Post by assaultme on Sep 10th, 2007, 5:40pm Lemme do some checkin' Brewcrew. I'd love to go !!! If I can't make it, I'd donate for sure. Depends on how bad the insurance co. hits me this quarter. Either way, it's a great cause. I'd be happy to be part of it no matter. Cheers, Dave |

Title: Re: We're at it again... Post by LeLimey on Sep 10th, 2007, 5:49pm Brew I meant I'd buy books and support them that way silly boy! Also, it would cost more in bank charges both there in the US AND here in the UK to send a Sterling cheque which was why I asked about paypal that was all. I don't need receipts or want them, just wanted to make sure money went the right way and not into banks coffers. I'll think of something! Helen |

Title: Re: We're at it again... Post by Brewcrew on Sep 10th, 2007, 8:29pm I'm sorry Helen and Rosy. It is merely a shop. No internet catalog or ordering. But if you know of a book or books that you might be interested in, send me a PM (that goes for anybody). Or write to them directly at Auggiesnows@aol.com. They only sell really top quality used books. For example, they do not buy any books that have torn covers or pages, or broken spines. They have to be in like new condition. |

Title: Re: We're at it again... Post by Brewcrew on Sep 10th, 2007, 8:30pm Thank you, Charlie. We're givin' it the old college try. |

Title: Re: We're at it again... Post by Rosybabe on Sep 10th, 2007, 10:29pm Well is just that I have been buying all these used books for homeschooling so I figure if I can pick some of the ones they are selling and helping at the same time it will be great but, it is ok, I will still send my little check for the cause :). |

Title: Re: We're at it again... Post by cash5542 on Sep 11th, 2007, 4:50pm I have a student with this disease. Because I teach elementary art I have the kids for years. I have had Jamie since kindergarten and he is now in 4th grade. I have watched what happens and have seen the loss of speech, mobility and coordination. It is very hard and sad to watch children suffer like this. I live way too far away to go to the concert but I will put a check in the mail for Josh's wheels! We need to keep all of these kids in our prayers! Charlotte |

At the same time, our own Teresa needs a big cheering section at Madison International Speedway that night, so go see her win first, then come to the fund-raiser! |

Title: Re: We're at it again... Post by Mosaicwench on Sep 14th, 2007, 5:16pm Josh's family just asked me about two checks that arrived in the mail for the Wheels for Josh fund-raiser. I recognized both names as CLUSTERHEADS!!! You folks are just amazing - helping out a child you don't know on our say-so. I'm in awe of this family. On behalf of Josh, Thank you thank you thank you! |
