Title: oranges ?
Post by Yorky on Sep 3rd, 2007, 5:02pm
found this on the meds board from a ..rtd88.

??...............Also FYI  for me having had these things off and on for 28 years since I've been on verapamil (240 mg a day for last 2 years) for what ever reason I started eating an orange at night a hour before bed and had a lot of luck with frequency and severity during the night. Usually only one early in the evening K-2 or less.

Thanks again
Rick

so
i have been searching the old boards for any references

to the benifits of oranges..?

i only bring this to lite , because last month i read that freshly squeezed oranges have a considerable affect

on seratonin levels ?

i was going to try this theory next epiode, but i am not in cycle.
BUT.
since i have been eating 1 orange a day..i dont seem to be getting any of the normal every day twinges.

as this been tried before..

i know we all respond to different things

(sorry its a serious post...i shall now go back to my usual silly posts  ;) )

Im not sure if I understand what you're saying York (pond divide, I guess)...are you saying you feel better if you eat an orange?

I cannot tolerate citrus of any kind...that's a definate trigger right up there with alcohol.

I hope you are saying you feel better.  Good luck! Sherri

this is what rtd88 wrote on the medications board

"for what ever reason I started eating an orange at night a hour before bed and had a lot of luck with frequency and severity during the night. "

I know that grapefruit effects how verapamil is metabolized.
I do not know if all citrus does as well.

Many meds give warning against grapefruit

Sorry York,

I was hoping it was a good thing. :'(

I love oranges and citrus, but forget it.  Just like the few times I've tried to have a drink...it always turns out bad.

At least oranges aren't my favorite!!  I also love strawberries and melons..canteloupe, honeydew!! :)

E-

You're absolutely right about the grapefruit.

I learned that when I was on a pretty high amount of verapamil too!!  I used to drink pink grapefruit juice with tangerine in it..to TAKE verapamil.  That was a long time ago...I no longer take verapamil.

Im not sure either if all citrus affections absorbtion rate of meds...
