Title: Slow High Speed ? Post by UN solved on Aug 31st, 2007, 6:46pm So just how slow can it go ?? Even DSL at home is faster than this! I'm only getting about 500k download speed. I checked it twice, through 2 different server locations. At least the price is right ... (free) ... cause I wouldn't pay for this @ home UNsolved Happy surfin' everyone ! BTW. .. If you understood that ... you spend way too much time on the computers ! |

Pretty nice Jonny ! Nobody could bitch about that speed either ! ;) I'm assuming you are on cable broadband too ! No one around is faster than I am, except for the universities who are on T1 or T3 lines. Those are lightening fast. There's absolutely no waiting for anything ! UNsolved |

Not too bad George, but not great either. Your speed will vary due to # of people on the network, computer settings, etc. Different times of the day will bring different speeds. In comparison: In the Louisville Metro Area: AT&T DSL 786k = $14.95 month 1500k= $19.95 month 3000k = $24.95 month 6000k= $34.95 month InsightBB Cable Broadband 10,000k = $30.00 month (residential) 15,000k= $89.00 month (business) Bluegrass T1 services 100Mbps = $599.00 month :P UNsolved |

Title: Re: Slow High Speed ? Post by Kirk on Sep 1st, 2007, 5:00am 12 MBytes/sec. Nothing beats a 5.7 Ghz,transceiver to a UUNET router on the internet backbone. Actually a T-3 would be 30 times faster. But I'll never be able to get one. [smiley=smokin.gif] |

Title: Re: Slow High Speed ? Post by rolo65 on Sep 1st, 2007, 11:59am Results for Comcast Minneapolis from: http://www.speedtest.net/ 9.8 Mbs down and 2.55 Mbs up! [smiley=laugh.gif] Would probably be even better with a new router. Of course the 6 computers on my network need the bandwith and the cost is $46 per mo. |

Title: Re: Slow High Speed ? Post by Brewcrew on Sep 1st, 2007, 2:06pm Thanks, Don. Here's my results: Download Speed: 1383 kbps (172.9KB/sec transfer rate) Upload Speed: 333 kbps (41.6 KB/sec transfer rate) I have no idea if it's good or bad. I'm behind a company firewall right now - not sure if that affects speed or not. Good enough for my purposes, I guess. |
