**********************************

Hi everyone, I wanted to let you all know that yesterday, my dad had a heart attack while working. Luckily , my brother Phil was working with him. They were doing work on a home outside, and it was very hot and humid out. Of course, my dad only had his mornign coffe and cigerates and no breakfeast, like always. He wanted to go cool off in the truck with the air on and grab some lunch. he couldnt cool off and was sweating like crazy , felt dizzy and then his chest started to hurt. He never even left to go get lunch, luckily! He knew that wasn't normal, so he called my brother over to the truck to call 911. My brother actually saved his life! He was rushed to Good Sam and had 2 balloons inserted into 2 arteries.
He is doing better when I visited him last night. He thinks he can go home already and still hasnt eaten until 9pm when we left the hospital. My brother said it was very scarey, my dad was soaked with sweat and pail white. My dad has to eat better (or should I say even eat), quit smoking(probably the toughest thing in life for him), and take it easy. He has been working like crazy. As some of you know, he has suffers from cluster headaches, and all the medication and stress and trama from the headaches also have taken a toll on his body. He is only 54!
I hope everyone can keep him in your prayers and thoughts. Thanks!
Debbie

Hi Folks,
Thanks very much for all the well wishes. It's all very much appreciated.

I'm doing very well.

It took me a while to figure out what might be happening. At first I thought it was just the heat...then heat stroke,,,then...holy shit,,maybe a heart attack? Last thing that I would have guessed. By the time I got to the hospital I was feeling great. Whatever they did/gave me in the ambulance got me feeling ok and I was asking if I could just go home when they got me into the ER....no, sorry Mr Wold, you're STILL having  a heart attack...oh.  ::)

I had been working outside with Phil, my son. It got really hot, really fast. It went from in the 70s to the 90s in about half an hour. I was feeling a bit woozy.....thought I just needed to sit down and cool off. I went into my truck to turn on the A/C and go get a cold drink. I never made it. I pulled into a parking lot and parked in the shade. Kept getting worse and then my chest started hurting. I finally called phil and when he got to me, he called 911 right away.

They ended up putting in two stents. They say very little or no damage at all and I should have a 100% recovery.

Came home yesterday afternoon. I was feeling great. They gave me a pneumonia vaccine just before I left. By the time I got home, my arm was so sore I couldn't move it. Just the weight from sitting up hurt my arm/shoulder so I had to spend the night laying down. Its better today. Still hurts and tough to type but I wanted to give you all an update.

The stupid shot ended up hurting more than the heart attack or the operation to install the stents.
So, I'm limping on my right leg and my left arm is useless LOL

In the ER, they asked me the old...."on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the worst pain you've ever had.....how bad does it hurt".....I said 2. They looked at me like I was a nut. I think us cluster people have a distorted view on pain in general and it might have been a factor in why I waited so long.

Anyway...I am fine....I'm heading out to Wisconsin in a few minutes so I can be away from phones, computers, traffic and noise for a couple days. I'll be sitting on the dock of the bay listening to the fish jump. I'm under orders not to catch anything too big.

I'll check back in when I get back. Thanks again very much for all the support and well wishes.

Bobw

Last thing, huh? Gee, it's not like you're a smoker, or at risk or anything.  ::)

Seriously, I'm so happy things went well, Bob. My Bob has a stent, and it's still working fine. Trouble with a stent is, now you have to get your cholesterol WAAAY down. Fat sticks to stents.

Go rest, and be well.  BIG hugs, nani

Sounds like a plan, there's bird chirping to be heard too with some impromptu flexibility to prearranged notions.   ;)

Glad to hear from you and that you're doing better, ok from what happened.

YUP!  LOL!  That was my thoughts, too, for my first heart attack!  I even drove myself to the hospital, which REALLY pissed off my family!

GREAT!  Now put some body lotion, with aloe in it, on that shaved crotch to keep the ingrown hairs and shaving bumps from appearing.  J&J Baby Powder helps to keep the itching down.

I now have three stents, and they told me the same, little or no damage for each of my attacks.

Glad you just got the wakeup call, and nothing more serious.  Stents are easy to live with.  I forget that I have them in me, most of the time.

I laugh every time they ask me that.  For each of my heart attacks, and even when I broke my neck in the auto accident.  They look at me strange when I laugh at the question.  I usually answer it something like this:  "For a normal person, it would probably be about an 8 ... But for me, it is around a 2 or 3 ... "

They don't seem to understand ... They usually ask: "Well what is it?  A 2 or an 8?"

Glad to hear things are going so well for you.  Enjoy watching those fish jump.

Check in when you get back.  We will keep the light on.

Chuck

Great to hear that you're feeling better, Bob. :)
Now relax entirely and catch some nicely small fish. ;)

BTW, that reminds me: when my uncle got a heart attack, he said to the paramedics that could they possibly place him into the ambulance the other way around because he wanted to watch the view on the way to the hospital! ;;D
