Emberrassing Hospital Story

So I had the first of two surgeries to fix my port implanted in my chest.

I'm in this prep area when they told me to strip naked, so I did ( I was still covered up though). The nurse said she was going to try and access my port one last time before I went into the operating room. She did access it and it was working fine. I thought I wouldn't have to do anything else. Wrong! The surgeon said that since I was already there and prepped, he wanted to 'see it' and maybe tell why it was screwing up. So they wheeled me into the operating room. He put this X-ray camera over my chest and we all found out that the port line had worked itsef out of position and actually went up my neck. He them explained he would have to go up in there, starting near my groin area and all the way up through my heart valves and into my neck to 'lasso' the line and pull it back into place. I said 'go for it'. Next thing I know 3 nurses came in and pulled off my cover (Now I butt naked). One nurse said "Hey, I know you' and she began to talk. I was embarressed now. She then explained she would have to shave 1 side of my groin area for the surgery. I had to let her do it. I asked could they go ahead and put me out ... anyways I woke up later and that part was done. The port is working but the doc is still not happen with it;s position, so they'll fix it on THursday.

Anyways, that was embarressing laying flat out on the table butt naked being shaved by a nurse that knew me !!

All that Iand I didn't even get a phone # !! LMAO !!

Anyone have something like that happen to them ?

YES! I have had t hings like that happen to me!! Remember, I'm a patient, was a student, and am an employee all at the same hospital. I did my clinical on the telemetry floor that I ended up being inpatient on for 12 days... I had daily EKGs by techs that I worked with. They were seeing my bare chest every time they came in to do one. Think it was embarrassing???? YES!! haha....

Glad the surgery went okay, but sorry you have to have another!! Hope you're going to get out of there sometime soon!!

I have no idea if those nurses were hot or not. Their faces were covered and had all that surgical gear on. ::)

My luck, it'll be different nurses next time and they have to go in on the other side, shaving my groin on the oppisite side [smiley=laugh.gif] !!

Oh well .. It could've been worse. I could've been unlucky enough to have a little willy like Jonny !! [smiley=laugh.gif] LMAO ... just kiddin' BIG POLE JONNY !! LMMFAO !! ( That ball was just out there, I had to kick it ! )

I have one. The last time I went in for a colonoscopy I knew the nurse! She used to hang out with one of my daughters. God how embarassing.

Ummmm ... How about when you go in and need to be shaved, and they look and find you are already fully shaved ... BTDT ...

Or you are in the emergency room, after an auto accident, and they have to fully remove (cut off) your clothing .. And they notice (and comment on) your fully shaved body, AND the pretty color of your toe nail polish ....

Not a embarressing story but memorable.I had my hysterectomy on my 33rd birthday.The nurses were nice enough to sing happy birthday both inside and outside of the o.r...as were the other people in the o.r. ....I said never again I don't care what the doctors schedule is like.My Dad and I share the same birthday...September 11th.On the 13th He finally goes in to get one of his cateracts off.I hope he didn't wait too long.I told him if I can have surgery on my birthday he can have one two days after his.

Not as embarrassing as when you go to your family doctor (who was also a personal friend) for a vasectomy, and he asks the nurse (a personal friend of my wife) to, "Please hand me the 4" tape." After he whips off the towel, he says, "Never mind, 1/2" tape will do."
