Title: Clusterheadaches On CNN
Post by barry_sword on Aug 19th, 2007, 9:08am
I had CNN on but with the radio playing. Just walked by and saw something on CNN in big letters "Clusterheadaches and Verapamil, then before I could turn on the tv sound it went to a commercial.

Anybody else see this? I have no idea whether it was aired or is coming up on a future show.

I saw it too.  They were just warning folks about Verap and the possible effects on heart and blood pressure.  For the most part, it's stuff that our well educated folks here already know and already do heed the warnings.

They did say "the worst headache known" though which is a good thing.

I know verapamil has the potential to cause problems...but I have low blood pressure avg. 110/85...and the highest dose didn't change it it all.

Im a glad that somehow, our condtion is getting out there...as Sanna said, every little bit counts.  We'll get there....

My BP is normally low as well, and Verap dropped my BP through the floor at 200 mg a day.  I pulled back to only 100 mg a day and I was still passing out.

That was time to go off of it.

I was at 720 mg/day and it didn't do anything for my clusters.  My neuro was perplexed that it didn't change my BP at all either.  I was on Verap + Lithium for over 18 months and finally gave up on it.

My BP is in average of 100/50 almost all the time, sometimes goes lower. I am not a good candidate for verap..

My BP dropped a lot as well back in my verap days. And because it has been low before, I begun to pass out - scaries moment took place when I was travelling on the London Underground.
My neuro didn't believe that until he saw it himself... He went all white in the face! After that another neuro put me back on verap, but much higher dose and that time I didn't faint... Go figure.
