Title: A rant of a furry
Post by blood_Redd_son on Aug 14th, 2007, 2:10pm
I have this friend who lives in England who created a rant about the stereotype furries (those who are of the furry fandom, if you don't know.) have placed upon them.  If you know, or if you don't know, i am a furry, and i agree with some of what he says.

The first part of the rant is just a bit of what was going on and why he wasn't posting stuff lately and shtuff.

May I introduce to you, my fellow fur, Snowy Fox  (His username, for i do not know his real.  SO DEAL!)

listen, enjoy, and salutations and good day

I can see my son, that you haven't worked out your aggressions over this yet.

Might I suggest a little manual labor around the apartment to soothe your soul?

You might want to, hmmm...clean the oven...

I rather enjoyed it, he's quite articulate.

My first thought was.....Oh my f'ing God, does this exist? Then I thought, well, if Julie Newmar as Catwoman counts, I might have been one....a loooooong time ago ;;D. Does that count [smiley=huh.gif] Off to clean my oven now.

No, king.  That doesn't count.  Sorry, but it doesn't even cut close.  ;)

The whole being has to be covered in FUR or SCALES to be truly anthropomorphic.

I've run into those sorts of stereotypical views on various sites (generally flame wars), though I've never actually gotten into the middle of one.

I've seen a lot of furries (furry artists mostly) who do their best to break down that sterotype and stop its association with the term "furry". And I've seen/heard/read rants from these people before about how they dislike that particular one.

Your friend is well-spoken and that was an enjoyable rant to listen to- he makes some good points.

I figured this thread would draw Ellen out of the woodwork.

Don't you have to paint your room tomorrow?  Just asking.

Best,

Hmm... I might start painting when I've got someone tall enough to tape the woodwork on top of the doors and windows. :|

Anyway, the topic of this thread is something that interests me a great deal, as it partially concerns me. >__> So yes, it would draw me out of lurkiness.
